Internet as a whole moved to algorithmically upvoted content (reddit) and away from forum style discussion. It's a shame because SA's type of culture cant exist without the long-lived linear thread format + the paywall to post, IMO.

The site isn't actually far left. The majority of users arent, it's just that the far left ended up getting modded and enforcing bans on non-far left speech. If you read the various subforums, you will mostly see people completely ignoring or avoiding any sort of interaction with people who spout far-left shit. This is because it's the safest course of action, any type of arguing will get you banned, so they just ignore it. Most users probably have a very extensive ignore list.
