Garbage Disposal Disparity

>In the United States, some 50% of homes had disposal units as of 2009,[13] compared with only 6% in the United Kingdom[14] and 3% in Canada.[15]

Redpill me on the Garbage Disposal Disparity. Tell me if you have one in your house and the prevalence in your country.

You'd think green european countries would be all for a device that reduces the amount of household waste that ends up in landfills. Go figure.

We compost you plebs

I'd like to see composting rates to compare with this. Thank you OP, I am leaving this thread to go find that information myself.

it fun 2 put eggshells in it goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr

For your garden in your flat? There isn't an actual different bin for foodwaste is there?

In the UK we scrape the plate into the bin and then wash it, like normal people. Why do you need a blender installed under your sink to chop up and flush away your food? Why are you inventing a solution to a non existent problem, like always?

No American can ever just accept something, everything has to be special and unique to them like children.

We have green bins, which I'm a little confused as to if food waste is generally permitted in them. In Los Angeles you cannot put partially eaten fruits and vegetables in them or any other food. Also answer the fucking question Austria, how prevalent are they there?

People are weird, we have always had a decent GD, but we always toss trash food into a compost bin my city makes us place all food in our green waste bin. But isn’t there residual food after you scraped the dish still and it just goes down the drain not chopped up. Maybe that’s why they get those Fatbergs and we don’t?

I live in a high-rise and I've got a disposal. I figured they were installed by default because the cost of a clogged drain in a big building could be horrendous.
I've never seen another one in Canada though.

It's great -- means I don't really have to keep "wet" trash in the bin at all, so only have to empty it when it's full (~every 2 weeks), instead of when it smells bad (~every 2 days).

Everyone here has them and as long as it decomposts you can throw it in there. Cut grass and tree trimmings too.

Not a thing here. They're not even available on the market, period.

Britbong that moved to Canada. The house we bought has one and I initially had no idea what it was used for. Now i see it as a plus.

why on earth would you put food into your sink? sinks must smell like shit in the us

you are supposed to scrape the food of into the leftover garbage bag that goes to pig feed.

what a waste of good pig feed

Just feed your wife with the same food as everyone else

No because you clean the disposal once in a while. They make little pellets your drop down there and turn the thing on and it foams up real nice. Or what most people do is run the warm water and dump a bunch of ice down the drain. Chewing up the ice knocks the junk off and it sharpens the blades, the warm water ensures it doesn't freeze up.

Much like you europoors and your cheesedicks - we just clean it

I got a 1 1/2 horsepower disposal and installed it myself. I could turn a brick into dust with that thing.

Food waste is biodegradable.

they fuck up septic tanks there's your disparity

If you put onions in it you will become blackpilled

lol. remind me to stop coming to Yas Forums

>americans think it's okay to throw food down the sink if you blend it first
Sounds like a scam thought up by plumbers

Seeing as how a dishwasher usually feeds into a garbage disposal, are dishwashers just as rare or even more rare than garbage disposals?

We collect our green waste seperately in the uk. I have 3 bin types, grey is general, brown is recyclable platcis, metals etc and green is household food and garden waste.

aha

I take it before you go away for awhile you have to do that stuff prior so you don't come home to a nightmare. you don't leave garbage in the house either before you ie go on holiday

our dishwashers just have a grate/filter to catch anything non-liquid

Landfills historically haven't been designed to promote biodegradradation, though. The waste is buried and compacted so it has little access to oxygen and only anaerobic bacteria can break it down. The goal wasn't to promote biodegrading, it was to isolate as much household waste from the public as possible.

There's a reason some municipalities have separate bins for food waste, yard clippings, etc. It's not ideal for most landfills. Composting makes a lot more sense. Or just grind it into tiny pieces, put it down the drain, and let it be processed along with the rest of the organic sewer waste.

The fuck is that?

>not using it for methane digester

You fat cunts have food waste ?

> listen to the blender jew goy

its like automatic gears, what a bunch of poofters

I never understood why the inconvenience of dragging a knife twice across a plate necessitates an electrical appliance that sends shredded garbage through the plumbing.

We never have food waste apart from peelings and stuff that goes in my compost or I give to my chickens. We don't leave food on our plates because we use a little something called portion control.
Stop wasting food you retards and just cook what you'll eat. Jesus christ.

I thought everyone had one. I have never been to a house that didn't

>and the prevalence in your country.
This is an exclusively burger thing.
Everybody else just throws that in the garbagee.

Yeah but most people just use them for yard trimmings. I guess some municipalities allow you to put food in them and others don't. Where I currently live though there is no green bin.
Do you keep a smaller green bin in your kitchen to move into a larger one?

>Redpill me on the Garbage Disposal
sure. theyre worthless. ive never had a sink back up and i do dishes for 5 people by hand daily. use a trashcan

posting the best

what are they even for?

We have them because we have good plumbing.

How many horse power is that baby going?

>because we have good plumbing.
that makes no sense. bad plumbing would force you to chop up any shit that goes down the drain. good plumbing washes it out

Putting lemon Slices in

Guys why is there a toilet? I mean, there are perfectly good holes in the backyard AND creates a healthy microbial biome for for my children to play in.

I use one, standalone, to liquify food scraps so I can compost food in weeks.
About to build a biodigester to really get things going.

enough to grind Trump down the drain

lol i guess. and playing a dangerous game of "find the fork"

Waste disposals actually help add needed carbon to the sewer systems to help break down the Fatbergs

yeah but you wash dishes, right? a few crumbs of shit left on plates adds up dude

Thinking blades chopping ice sharpens them.
You really are retarded aren't you?

Disosal Units end up blocking sewage pipes somewhere along the line and it's your local municipality that is tasked with unblocking them. They're prohibited in most new real estate developments in the US.
Worst idea evah.

doesnt composting cause cockroaches to show up?

bull fuckin shit, every new home has one
