i actually could see that, our states have threatened to fight each other for various reasons a lot throughout history the thing that's really strange to me is how we sorta morph between strict federalism and central authoritarianism at will, the government really does have the power and even the implicit acceptance of the people in some cases to just override the state and local governments if it really wanted to

desu i don't attach any special meaning to federalism, ideally i'd want a good aristocracy/monarchy that worked, but what gets me now is how we still act like the rules of federalism bar the central government from doing as it pleases when it really can and will act when it wants to. the rules of federalism are more a scapegoat of culpability than anything else anymore (one i think trump is wielding dangerously but quite well right now)

I don't have a horse in this race but I studied this matter and if the status quo of the before Roe vs. Wade was returned a grand total of > 36k more non white offspring than white offspring would be born. Even if a total ban of abortion was passed the number would rise to 100k. That's a lower number than the total number of green cards given to Mexicans alone
