I feel like this is partially accurate, particularly the ending, as it really does seem like this whole thing was planned and America is scrambling to enact some sort of Plan B, since China recovered much sooner than expected. I don't think Americans developed the virus, I believe the Chinese did, but the research was conducted in partnership with America, who pulled out in 2014 when they knew the virus could be completed without them. Then it was just a matter of American spies "accidentally" releasing it, which China can't admit because it's a confession of bioengineering weapons. You would think a cure would be made alongside the virus, so maybe that's a spanner in this theory since China would've let so many of their people die. Nobody really knows and I doubt anyone ever will.
