But the intent was to legally require the USPS to do something no other agency must do, and few businesses do - pay billions a year into a future benefits fund and run at a loss - allowing both parties able to speciously shriek "Look how ineffeicient the USPS is! It would run so much better if we sold it all to our friends!"

Compare the cost of mailing a letter from Alaska to Florida or Maine to Hawaii with any other carrier. USPS is 20x cheaper.

Amazon uses local delivery companies around here. Sometimes they use Canada Post, but the majority of the time it's private couriers (who actually work on the weekends and respond immediately to any complaints, unlike the shitty postal service).

Because real companies like FedEx are realizing sucking Jeff Bezos' steroid-shriveled balls isn't worth the pittance he pays.

I've never personally had any issues with the postal service but that one detail has always irked me. If you have ANY issues where the fuck are you gonna get support? Their number for each post office minus a handful seems to just be their national 1-800 number and those people know nothing beyond what your own tracking page shows lol
