Asylums, although asylums should be more humane than they used to be. But they need a place staffed by professionals where they can't leave.
I've dealt with the autistic. They're incredibly selfish, and will get violent over shit like you giving them the wrong spoon or their food being too spicy. They'll start hitting and biting anyone who comes near, like a child throwing a tantrum only more animalistic. This continues throughout adulthood, so you have a 30-40 year old man who acts based on urges, has little impulse control, and zero social behavioral skills. Currently, they keep these people in group homes that are as easy to get out of as any home. One of these fuckers could slip away, come across some kid playing outside, pull them into a bush and rape them. Or beat an old woman walking her yappy dog because it hurt the tard's ears. The current practices for handling the mentally ill are incredibly unsafe. There are many also who refuse care and end up homeless.
We need to bring back asylums.
