This is good news and all but remember that China also owns foreign companies, not all their money comes from manufacturing. They have a tremendous amount of "soft power" and influence.
The USA is best fit to lead this decoupling effort as other nations will follow the USA's lead.
It will be best if as much manufacturing returns to the USA as possible but of course not all of it will, instead companies should push to diversify their manufacturing exposure across different nations so a pandemic in one doesn't wipe out everything like we've had with COVID 19.
However companies will naturally want to lower costs and put all their eggs in one basket, this makes the most financial sense for an individual company, but not the most strategic sense for a nation state. I don't know how that circle can be squared but it'll have to be.
This has been a real wake up call and the warning must be heeded. If the USA actually had a real big war and their supply chains were set up like this it would spell disaster.

Not many folks know this but China is fulfilling production orders for companies based on their future compliance, they're renegotiating agreements so that X company stays in X province for X amount of years, China is trying to twists our wrists so that our companies meet their production quotas.
