They changed the rules so people can quit, they don't have to be fired to get unemployment benefits. Someone give me the quick rundown on if I need to be actively applying to jobs to receive unemployment right now. All I could find is that "some states" would be waiving the work search requirement, but I have no idea how to tell if my state is one of them. The NY dept of labor website has a FAQ for stimulus aid and doesn't even address work search in any way, but normally it's just a given you need three work search activities per week. Except nothing in my industry is hiring, and it doesn't make sense to apply to some shitty Amazon factory job just to leave in a few weeks when my much better-paying job starts back up in a month or two.
