Yas Forums has undercomplete complete demographic replacement. Even back in 2017 I ran a survey on r9k and found that most anons responding hadn't been on the board for more than 2-3 years max. I can post references and memes to earlier eras and practically nobody will pick up on them unless they're the major survivors.

My theory is that you simply need a much more focused, CONSCIOUSLY thoughtful board. This sounds ridiculous at first but hear me out... if everyone using the board was reminded before posting to make sure their post was thoughtful, reasoned, well thought out, concise, etc. that alone would make a huge difference in how people would post. You'd need to have a board manifesto or something short enough for everyone to read, which would point out dysfunctional posting styles, etc. so that everyone who posted would at least be reminded of these things regularly, and if you encouraged everyone who posts to call out others - there'd be a strong enough culture to make threads functional. You only need a small number of people dedicated to good conduct on a board to be a model and to shape the behaviour of others. Yas Forums used to have a sort of organic site-wide culture, and board-specific cultures evolved... but none of it was really conscious or spelled out clearly enough to be 'enforced' against new posters, so the site was eventually overwhelmed.
