taking care of a newborn is actually super difficult. When my son was born the only thing that got me through those tough few weeks without shaking him in desperation was looking at my features in him. he's got my ears, nose and hair. When he was old enough he could look at my face and crack a smile at me. A little more time passed and he was giggling at me for blowing raspberries on his belly. I love my son so much and I can't even stand seeing him cry from getting blood drawn at the Dr. for routine tests. But when you're running on fumes, due to only sleeping a couple hours a day, working a job on top of that, using caffeine and carbs to keep yourself from passing out of exhaustion and your baby just can't stop screaming and fighting you to go to sleep due to colic, the realization that the baby isn't even yours is the last straw and you can't resist the urge to shake, toss or rough handle the child. Even male animals in nature kill the young of a female they're interested in procreating with, it's not hard to imagine why.
