Yes, hospitals are making less money because they’re slashing a ton of elective procedures because they need to focus their care on screening and treating people with covid, many of which are uninsured. This isn’t that complicated. I’m losing money myself. My outpatient clinic is only doing telemedicine right now. A telephone visit reimburses me 14 dollars for Medicare. This is not viable. A video call does better but good luck getting an 80 year old on zoom. I’m burning through my personal PPE to see covid patients and donning/doffing in a proper fashion is time consuming.
