Germans aren't "just being honest" they literally cannot mind their own business. They know they're being tactless and uncouth, but its like they have a compulsion to act on it anyway. This isn't a cultural misunderstanding either, because they do it to each other, and understand damn well it is controversial while they are doing it. It very much is like a sociopath who commits a wrong doing and then gets defensive and dismissive when justifying why they did something so malicious.

They also hate it when you do it to them. When you call out a german for doing something stupid, or question their logic or reasoning aloud to call attention to it, they become infuriated, which just goes to show they're not "comfortable" with the truth. They're just assholes. Plain and simple. Assholes.

I think it comes from a culture of non-aggression since the post-war period. Like no one gets slapped in the mouth for saying dumb shit to each other. In Berlin, you can get into a yelling match with a German, they'll start waving their hand infront of their own face to call you crazy, but it'll never come to blows because they're pretty much cowards.

The simple truth is, Germans, on average, are just assholes with a power complex.
