If no company was forced to provide medical benefits then the cost of healthcare would go down. The only reason it costs so much is because most of the price is hidden away from the consumer.

I'm not in favour of ending activities, i'm in favor of ending work. You tell me, doctors find purpose in helping people, authors find people in writing books. This is essentialy true. But they will also find purpose in it if it was not a work, meaning if they did it only out of their love for that activity, the love of health, the love of science, the love of art. You would tell me, that's utopic. I would answer you, not only that's not utopic but that's the basis of most human progress and most societies in their pre-capitalist stage. Greeks didn't work to produce philosophy or science, they did it as a free activity, without remuneration, precisely because they didn't have to work, living on the behalf of slaves. They were practicing medicine, philosophy, science and art without it being integrated in a market, or a system of exchange or remuneration, simply out of the pleasure of knoweldge.

Not only I think that people could be creative and functional if their activity wasn't a work, but in fact they would be more efficient and creative if that wasn't the case ? Truth is, in pre-capitalist society, at least the arts, and science and knoweldge wasn't annex by the laws of the markets. They lived as autonomous spheres, reserved to those whou could escape works. Nowadays, they are integrated in the market and thus art is produce in order to satisfy the market needs, which produce shitty art, shitty music.
