Libertarianism =/= individualism, it's more about giving the absolute most amount of freedom possible while still functioning under the foundation of a society, or if you prefer, the least amount of government intervention upon a citizen.

The style of thinking does not hinge on the precipice of total government shut down but rather keeping a healthy boundary between yourself and oligapolic entity. And the idea is that by strengthening peoples' freedoms you make a safer and more efficient society, not totally dissolve society
