I live 5 - 10 minute drive from my local police station. My wife woke me up in the middle of the night saying she heard someone on the porch. I jokingly said “well let’s go see what they want.”

I heard two people on my porch whispering and attempting to force my locks open. I told my wife call the police, got my pistol and returned to the door. I live in a state ( VA ) where you can’t shoot someone until they enter into your property, so I told them I was armed and if you enter my house you better be coming heavy.

The lock continued to jingle and at the time I thought they were still trying to force the lock, but later realized they were trying to get the pick free. Eventually they left, the police came. 30 minutes later. I told them the situation and they walked around my front yard with a flashlight then left.

The next morning I found zip ties all throughout my yard, from them I’m assuming. Who knows what they were for.
