I think an investigation should be undertaken to determine how the media and courts in Victoria conspired to imprison George Cardinal Pell on false allegations because he was a vocal moral conservative who opposed the faggot agenda in the Australian mainstream.
Something definitely needs to be done with the ABC at this point.
Legally, he is not entitled to any compensation, including his legal fees.
Evan Evans
Even if he is innocent he deserved having his life ruined for enabling all of the actual pedo priests.
Hudson Powell
he's not not guilty tho
Nicholas Murphy
He didn't enable pedos. You're just applying a media cliche about Catholic priests to him.
Benjamin Peterson
half the pedophiles are still walking around. only half were successfully prosecuted, they had decades to cover this up
And consider this; If you know someone is a pedophile, you have the ability to control them completely. The church moved these priests around- but do you think they never demanded anything for this?
Also where are the links between pedophiles in the church and those outside it? We are lead to believe that this was contained within institutions- no links to my knowledge were drawn between overseas mission staff
This is far from over
Caleb Brooks
Can you give me the quick rundown on this guy and why Australians on Reddit really hate him? I know his conviction got overturned
I noticed that Australians are even cuckier than British people on Reddit.
Ian Miller
All my leftie friends are OUTRAGED at this lads
I feel so sorry for them
Bentley Martinez
Because he is Catholic
No other reason
Chase Hall
that was most pathetic miscarriage of justice i have ever seen. I don't care if he's guilty or not- embarrassing for a system of justice to convict in a case that ridiculous
Jackson Scott
anti catholic hysteria. same thing has swept ireland. England had it in 17th century! laughable cases- Titus oates etc
Jeremiah Robinson
He dindu nuffins.
And there's a big chance he is guilty and just jewed the system.
Jaxson Brooks
Cardinal Pell was Melbourne Archbishop. Tried to make Catholic education system in Victoria less leftarded. He was one of the few prominent social conservatives left in Australia. He was a climate change skeptic. He was about third in line to become pope. He was investigating financial corruption in the Vatican.
Australia is a country of godless white trash. Melbourne is a city of communist poofters. So the entire media establishment was salivating over his spilled blood.
Thomas Evans
The forensic details of the case make the allegations seem absurd. In a crowded busy cathedral he ducked into the sacristy for 60 seconds to rape 2 altar boys and then he putted over to the entrance a minute later to casually greet parishioners as they left mass.
Christian Cruz
Lawfag here Just hear about this, there's going to be a serious shitstorm
>Cardinal Pell’s case before the High Court was that it was not open to a jury, on the whole of the evidence, to find him guilty as charged, and that the Victorian Court of Appeal majority erred in law by upholding the verdict. Basically he was found guilty be a jury, but claimed the jury wasn't allowed to find him guilty.
There are very grave concerns that half of the priests prosecuted were found not guilty- and this point either to a grave miscarriage of justice against them; or by them.
A key issue here is that these crimes don't leave physical evidence that implicated the accused- they rely on the judgement of a jury. if someone commited a number of these offences, there would be no evidence to add up.
It's a key principle of law that the number of accusations made against someone shouldn't influence jurors to conclude that they are guilty- one offender may face trial after trial but until a guilty verdict is reached the number of trails previously had are not allowed to be revealed to the jury
man this is going to be a long week
Grayson Brown
As a Catholic, he and ilk deserved to have their rights stripped from them and be tested on as animals. Disgusting, inhuman and embarrassing.
Adrian Lopez
I smell a dirty Protestant.
Jacob Martinez
Not religious, didn't care that he was convicted but I was pretty uncomfortable about this being a small part in the greater anti-Christian/traditionalism movement in Australia. He had been declared guilty by all media outlets before there was even a complaint. ABC has been gloating about the ruling since.
David Evans
He rogered a lot of lads, and helped protect others who had done the same. Doesn't really ingratiate you to people.
Dominic Perry
That's what the jewed trial says, redneck.
Nicholas Lopez
Stop hiding behind a meme flag, lawyer guy.
Connor Barnes
Ever since the first trial the ABC has referred to Pell as a known pedophile.
Logan Morris
Even though his conviction was "unsafe", we know what he did. Wait for the release of the sections of the Royal Commission's report that deal with pedophiles at Ballarat.
Connor Barnes
>All accusations thrown out by highest court in the land Calling him a pedo now is coming out as a conspiracy theorist that rejects accepted fact, since the accusations were the only reason beyond standard leftist asspain over all of Christianity
Adam Lopez
larp more
James Lewis
Must asspain them greatly that they cannot do that without threat of libel now
Andrew Evans
This is all just idiocy that fails to discern between voluntary sexual activity with children. and rape. The irony is that the harm done was largely by corrosive social values and the iatrogenic action of law enforcement and experts.
Chase Stewart
>we who, your prolapse support group based out of newtown?
Brayden Clark
I'm behind 7 proxies.
The ABC made a very long campaign against the catholic church without them it probably would never have happened
But that being said I can't say it was unjustified, there were a terrible number of offences uncovered and we all know victims. This wasn't some "unknown hooker accuses public figure" type events, we know the victims and there are hundreds.
The real question is will he remain in Australian legal jurisdiction. He wasn't convicted but it's very surprising he wasn't placed under an order to remain in Australia unti the second commision is concluded.
The guy has "flight risk" tattooed on his forehead
Aaron Long
You can't just make accusations without evidence, friend. Pells accuser learned that today.. Pell is innocent and did nothing wrong.
Didn't he fuck kids then the high court said oh well let him go anyways 'e's 'ad a ruff wun 'e 'as ignoring that he covered for pedos
Sebastian White
They didnt restrict his movement because he is in effect free now
Innocent until proven guilty Not proven guilty means by default he is innocent I know a lot of leftists would rather that flipped on its head to the point that accusations are fact (as long as you're attacking a white heterosexual) but that isnt reality
Blake Campbell
People hate Catholicism. That's basically it.
Isaiah Campbell
Pretty sure those children were literally raped. they weren't just underage queers.
A. Pell is guilty by today's standards of dozens of offences- they just weren't offences at the time. B. "failure to report a crime" is an offence and always has been. If he was aware that a priest had committed "buggery" (as it was called then), legally he had to report it. The problem is that after 30 years, the evidence of who did or didn't report abuse was "lost. Organisations then didn't have mandatory record keeping requirements like they do now- so they could just spend a weekend shredding documents
Andrew Morales
Australia is one of the most anti-Catholic countries in the world and one of the most pozzed. The average Australian is worthless white trash who want eternal gibmedats and mommy government to protect their consumerist suburban lifestyle.
>underage queers. Homosexual activity with boys does not indicate later adult homosexuality.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
a selection of the finest boypussy the catholic church has to offer paid by the tax payer
Jack Bell
That's simply not how the law works.
You can be detained for questioning Arrested pending trial Held in protective custody or you can be ordered to remain in the australian legal jurisdiction until the prosecution has time to gather enough evidence to justify an arrest
Even if innocent, the courts have a number of measures they can make to stop individuals intimidating witnesses, obstructing ongoing investigations or fleeing the country
Elijah Cook
There is zero evidence Pell did what you're accusing him of other than a meth addled university dropouts claims so shut the fuck up memeflaggot.
Pell is innocent of all wrongdoing and is an exemplary Catholic leader.
Ryan Edwards
High Court did the right thing, the jurors and the state court acted on emotions rather than evidence, a single persons accusation from 40 years ago isn't evidence, to live in a world where you can convict people based on testimony of the plaintiff is ridiculous, the High Court was right that these people never entertained reasonable doubt, the case should never even have been brought to trial with not a single piece of evidence
Jaxson Sullivan
>anti-Catholic Elaborate. Or are you just talking out of your ass, you dumb nigger?
David Jones
who watching bolt report here?
Wyatt Young
Sort of the same thing happened in France with Cardinal Barbarin.
>Something definitely needs to be done with the ABC at this point. In Minecraft.
Brayden Mitchell
It literally wasn't a crime for a Priest not to report the admission of a crime during Confession, since then Victoria has made it against the law which goes against the principal of freedom of religion
Juan Nguyen
Every second aussie on twitter is fedposting about Pell. What a shame that people refuse to understand.
Carson Campbell
except Polanski, for some reasons.
Elijah Butler
No, that guy licks israels anus if given a chance. All australian media is shit.
>that webm Thank God you guys defeated the nazis in ww2. What kind of horrific society would we otherwise be living in?
Anthony Hall
Our media attacks the Catholic Church every chance it can get and Pell was almost convicted on a false charge because of the media driving Australia into an extremely anti-Catholic rage. Keep in mind that even Australian Catholics are very liberal and don't really practice, push for fag marriage and all that shit so the number of genuine Catholics here is very low.
Lincoln Foster
Agreed. I think this is the lawful outcome. But not the right one. And wasn't he the one who sent accused priests and shit to Rome before they could face trial?
Catholics say that about everywhere though. Truth is, no one cares.
Leo Walker
I got no problem if a pedo admits in confession to his crimes that the priest is obligated to report it fuck pedos
Caleb Scott
And none are being utilised because he is a free man and innocent. Rage more faggot
Julian Edwards
It doesnt really matter when no planes are flying at the moment for travel
Joshua Harris
>And wasn't he the one who sent accused priests and shit to Rome before they could face trial? No. Pell was not complicit in the protection of any abusive Priest in any way. That's a lie created to smear his name.
Juan Hall
The appeal was allowed because the standard of proof required for a criminal conviction is 'beyond reasonable doubt'. On the evidence available, it could not be said that there was no reasonable doubt that he was guilty because of numerous witnesses who gave contradictory evidence which the prosecution did not even bother to challenge. It isn't a ruling that he is innocent, it's a ruling saying that he is not guilty because the requisite burden of proof was not met for a guilty verdict.
Reporting a crime isn't violating freedom of religion. Nor should that supersede the freedom to not be raped.
He didn't control who went to Rome?
Landon Rodriguez
I don't know what you mean by that;
My point is that this is clearly not a case of an underage boy having consensual sexual relations with an adult
>pell was a good boy and din du nuffin What evidence would you expect there to be in a rape that was reported later? does that mean every person who commited a crime that didn't leave physical evidence should be freed?
The Jury said the witness made a very compelling case- that is as strong as the evidence for a rape will ever be.
why even call a jury if you can decide afterwards that their verdict isn't valid WITHOUT ruling a mistrial >jury decided innocent, he's innocent >jury decides he is guilty, make them decide again
The case hinged on whether the jury believed the defendant or the plaintiff- they resoundingly believed the plaintiff.
That would only apply if pell was not aware of the offending in another context. Theoretically if a priest told another during confession at the time they would not be compelled to report a crime However Pell as a church administrator dealt and was responsible at an administrative level.
Brayden Peterson
It's amazing that in Australia that people are convicted based on a plaintiff's testimony and to people that meets the burden of beyond a reasonable doubt, it's no surprise though in a country where you can find people guilty if only 10 out of the 12 jurors think you're guilty, I mean look at that Chris Dawson who's accused of killing his wife, no new evidence has emerged and yet they've charged him after 40 years because of a podcast
James Hall
Doesnt matter when the only people suggesting he is or will leave are the media because they are so asspained they dont want him in the country
Jose James
>Reporting a crime isn't violating freedom of religion Confessional Seal is a thing in Catholicism you dumb cunt, if you make the Confessional Seal illegal you're infringing on a persons right to practice their religion >jury decided innocent, he's innocent Jury's don't decide if you're innocent dumb cunt, you're innocent until proven guilty in Australia, the burden of proof is on the prosecution, so much for your bullshit law degree >The case hinged on whether the jury believed the defendant or the plaintiff- they resoundingly believed the plaintiff. The conviction was successfully appealed because the High Court found it didn't even meet the burden of beyond a reasonable doubt and said the jurors were fucking retards
Charles Ross
>What evidence would you expect there to be in a rape that was reported later? How about not waiting THIRTY FUCKING YEARS to actually go to the police about it?
>does that mean every person who commited a crime that didn't leave physical evidence should be freed? No it just means we shouldn't convict people based on nothing more than thirty year old testamony that has holes the size of Jupiter in it. You want to know how much of a farce this trial was? The single accuser (the only evidence the prosecution had at all) claimed that Pell stuck his dick through the front slit of his vestments. The only problem? The vestments don't have a fucking slit or any opening at the front at all. The guy was lying his ass off and somehow the retarded jury still voted to convict.
You seriously think Pell after mass went into the sacristy and decided out of the blue to just indulge in some rape for 5 minutes somehow without taking his vestments off then come back out and nobody thought anything was amiss? You're fucking retarded.
Adam Mitchell
>How should Cardinal Pell be compensated With a quick drop and a sudden stop :)
Matthew Fisher
Wtf i love pedophiles now.
Grayson Kelly
The jury system works most of the time but it isn't perfect and sometimes makes mistakes. The only alternative would be leaving it up to a judge, which probably has even more flaws.
The jurors in this case aren't lawyers and they can be let off the hook, they may have honestly thought he was guilty. The real problem here is the Victorian Court of Appeal which should have done what the high court did today.
Bentley Gonzalez
You can't, and shouldn't use religion to hide heinous criminal activities. Religion doesn't supersede the law. They can still practice everything else in that particular sect.
