Companies would still have to sell their products and be competitive, and they wouldn't be able to market made in the USA products as being higher quality and therefore worth more money when they're the only option. Even in the 1980s, 80% of our textiles and clothing were manufactured in the USA, and the majority of our electronics and other technology were manufactured in the USA.

A lot of made in America items don't get to retail shops because the stores have ridiculous rules, plus the margins are smaller so they would prefer to get sneakers from 8300 miles away (coated in lead and asbestos) rather than get quality American sneakers from 130 miles away.
