I used to have a horrific sweet tooth. It took me a long time to fully break off of it to the point where I don't crave it anymore. What worked for me was eating a fuckton of fiber every day. Flax, beans, and high-fiber hemp.

Once you fix your gut bacteria and get your insulin sensitivity back, sugar cravings get easier to manage, until you basically don't get them anymore.

Never got addicted to anything I tried except sugary drinks. I can't ever seem to kick the habit of soda in particular - the best I can do is substitute it with sweet tea or something, but it's still just as much fucking fructose.

On that note, fuck fructose. It's alcohol but without any of the actually fun side effects. Shit destroys your liver.

alternate day water fasting, make sure you refeed on healthy food, minimum processed shit. Drink plenty of water (not too much) instead of “liquid candy” or anything that is too sweet. The first few weeks are the hardest depend the on severity of your addiction and your mental fortitude. Good luck.

How do people get addicted to sugary drinks? I hate that sticky feeling on your teeth and gums after drinking a can of coke, like they're being dissolved. I found chocolate, biscuits, cookies etc to be extremely addictive however.

First week your brain will constantly beg for sugar (for me it was constant thoughs about chocolate) but fat helps coping (I'm french so french/italian cheese helped) and after a few rough days you'll feel like a new man. I did it for a month, after that you can't even eat fruits without feeling unpleased.
