So lemme get this shit straight. Please correct me where I'm wrong. There's an anti-malaria drug which has been known to be an effective treatment against the coronavirus. And getting this shit ready has been Team Trump's plan since fucking January. Thing is, there are two problems
1. (The legit problem) It wasn't confirmed at the time that this stuff was effective against this particular strain of coronavirus. Testing and trials were needed before mass government distribution cuz holy shit, imagine if it wasn't. We are probably WAAAAAAAAAAY past that point, though. Trump's been on that ball for months and keeping it on the downlow because 4d chess is never just a meme with this guy.
2. (The ACTUAL "problem") The patent on the stuff is expired. Which means no big pharma giant stands to make more shekels than God on this. Which means no politicians getting campaign contributions from these pharma companies, or just straight-up owning part of them, stand to get a piece of the pie. So pharma companies are scrambling to come up with an alternative treatment which wouldn't even be ready until like 2021 if at all, and politicians are scrambling to stall/block the treatment we have RIGHT FUCKING NOW. This isn't a one-sided thing, since both dems and republicans can stand to become rich(er), but dems are more disconnected from reality and actually believe they can stall this shit for that long (they can't).
3. (The nonexistent problem which can only spawn from the head of a democrat) Democrats can't let Trump win. The fucker literally stands to be the savior who cures a global pandemic, and they are losing their minds. They will drag this out as long as they can, kicking and screaming the whole way, cuz orange man bad. They don't care how many people die because of their interference. They don't have the souls necessary to feel bad. They need the narrative in which Corona-chan ruins everything and it's all drumpf's fault, and by nimrod, they will have it.
