Is Joe Rogan a comedian?

I'm not a big fan of Rogan's comedy either but I think audiences and probably other comedians have told him he's not funny. Just by booing him or a telling a joke that doesn't land. Pretty sure he's gone through the ringer.

He is a comedian because he goes on stage and tells jokes and stories that are meant to be funny. You don't have to actually be funny to be a comedian.

Pretty much this. I only recently got into podcasts and got into Rogan by noticing that he is pretty high in the rankings and generally has three -ish hour interviews.
If the person he's interviewing is interesting, its a good way to pass the time, otherwise I skip over to other, more focused, podcasts. I've tried listening to his comedy and it's shit, so whatever.

Comedy was never his strong suit. He's pretty big on brutally honest, self reflection. I can't imagine he doesn't know that.

He's alright during interviews but idk why people consider him a comedian. It's not whether or not he lets things go unchallenged that makes him a poor host in my opinion. Take the Bostrom podcast which was made unbearable because of Joe. He frequently derails awesome convos.
