If you put one fat log in a fireplace, it won't burn without extra fuel. Too much heat is lost to the atmosphere.
If you throw a log onto a fire of other burning logs, the log ignites rapidly and the reaction is self sustaining.
Modern crematoria are designed to burn individual bodies and separate bones/ashes. That's why they require fuel and have downtime between each body for cleaning.
If you're just burning people like firewood you can easily get 2-10x more capacity than a modern crematorium.

This is very simple logistics. You're turning a serial problem (burning in a modern crematorium) into a parallel final solution (keeping the oven hot and burning multiple bodies at once.
