Thinking anons, get in here. What are the long term global effects of the virus? Schizos need not reply.
Here are a few of my predictions: I have the feeling we are living through an extremely era-defining and transformative moment in the 21st century and we haven’t yet processed the changes this event will bring upon the world. I think when we look back, the effects of Covid-19 on the world geopolitical climate, culture, and our consciousness will be on the level of the Cold War (certainly greater than 9/11).
Here are a few areas where I think we will see major changes in the coming months and years:
-Global supply chains will be transformed to be more localized So many countries are reeling from their incredible dependence on goods and supplies from other countries. They will look to have more national interests and prioritize local economies. Expect “Made in America” or wherever else to be a huge selling point again.
-Anti-globalization sentiment This goes with the other point. Nationalistic and populist movements (which are already exploding in the world) might be able to seize this moment to sway people against the belief in globalization and also stoke fears of “the other.” Globalization has already been losing its luster but events like this, which demonstrate the downside of states being interconnected and interdependent, make it look even worse.
-Governments seizing the opportunity to become more authoritarian When they are keeping the majority of the country in their homes, this is a perfect opportunity for governments to grab more power- especially in already fragile “democracies” such as Russia. Governments will put electronic surveillance systems in place to track people's movements and ensure they remain quarantined; don't think these security apparatuses will disappear when this thing is over. This is the beginning of the end for whatever privacy we have left.
-Major world economic repercussions The longer this thing lasts and people have to stay home = more jobs lost and more money governments have to pump into the economy. Say hello inflation and debt increase... We’re about to learn just how long this whole fiat currency and central bank shindig can be sustainable..
Liam Foster
-Increased distrust in the global financial system The US pumped $2 trillion into its economy just to keep the markets alive- this is major and unprecedented on this kind of scale. Could we see crypto-currencies become more popular because they aren't manipulated by a national bank? Crypto’s also took a hit recently but
-Western countries rethinking their business and political relationship with China Will there possibly be more international support for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and even Japan and South Korea? Once the dust settles and all the investigations/inquiries begin there will be a lot of finger pointing at the CCP as well as incredible pressure on western democracies to distance themselves from China. International lawsuits against the CCP and the WHO will be incoming; even if they don’t result in anything they will end the question of whether China could be the next global hegemony with US-like political influence.
-Major transformations in how we work Many employers are going to realize their workers can do their jobs at home. This could potentially even boost revenue by lowering expenses. It will be incredibly transformative to the way people work.
-Changes in the educational system If the world goes on learning online from home for a several month period, it’s pretty reasonable to assume this will cause major changes in the educational system- even after schools reopen. Schools essentially haven’t changed their structure in 100+ years despite radical changes in the way information is learned and disseminated in non-academic contexts.

if things remain this way it will impact dating especially for the young/those not already with someone. the limitation of physical closeness to others will cause people to seek intimacy online/throughvirtual reality. in a couple years they will put out a vr system where you can "feel" the person in the game/porn touching you as shown briefly in ready player one. it'll eventually become mainstreamed.
another distinct possibility, if not probability, is the rise of machines doing jobs formerly done by humans under the logic that these robots won't be able to get diseases, won't show prejudice (supposedly), etc.
Many are seeing how important shit they took for-granted is. People worry about real problems, not fag parades. We haven't experienced real pain. Real pain is not having clean running water or electricity and having to deal with death squads.

I think in the futyre niggers will flood american land and europa land and there will be nigger cattle run by cia niggers...its all written in some book the whole plan...

>boost revenue by lowering expenses
You're retarded. I think you mean boost profits by lowering expenses.

Everything is going to go back to normal in a few months. This pandemic is not the problem; it is a symptom of a much more severe problem. Namely globalism+corruption. After we return to normal we continue to drift toward the abyss and our final extinction. Expect more social strife, more pandemics, more corruption, more abuses of power, and a lower chance of survival for life on this planet.
nationalist socialism will become very popular sort of like bernie + trump third positionism

Good predictions. I think the virus will become a cultural touchstone. Virus imagery, analogy and iconography will fill our media, art and discourse. People will become a lot more conscious of their hygiene and protective of their personal space. I agree that work/school will begin to migrate online.
Isaac Clark
I've been working from home for about 3 weeks. I like it so much I don't want to go back to the office at all.

Good call, I meant profit not revenue

>Major transformations in how we work Already been heavily tested. Bandwidth of interpersonal communication drops substancially when you don't have necessary people within 60 ft of each other. This works fine for about 3 months, but then you have major drop offs in productivity. And, this doesn't even include the gold brickers.
Anthony White
I've worked from home for 6 years. Make sure you have an office separate from your normal living place. You'll start to hate the location. Negative energy builds up there.
Dylan Reed
Good points. I'd add that I think after the quarantine is over, people are going to party pretty hard. People will fuck whoever is around a lot of pregnancies will happen. You'll probably see an increase in drug overdoses and alcohol related injuries and deaths.
Isaac Gomez
>People will become a lot more conscious of their hygiene and protective of their personal space This so much. If one good thing comes out of this I hope it's that people start washing their fucking hands. It's disgusting all these add campaigns need to keep reminding people of this.

Declining EROEI necessitated a contraction in the global markets to reduce consumption without causing systemic collapse.
Wu flu peacefully results in less consumption and the proles never wake up.

Yup. This is gonna happen all over the place. "Social distancing" is some fucked up 1984 newspeak and a lot of it is going to be here to stay. Offices are a liability.

I hope that in the US our government realizes that relying on a dirty, corrupt, authoritarian country that hates us to make our medicine is a terrible idea. I would like to see laws passed forcing domestic companies to produce this stuff in the US again. I would like to see our entire dependence on China done away with.
I hope more companies start making work from home permanent policies. I know it's not possible for every job but it would certainly help reduce traffic and emissions.
Gavin King
I hope we see some sort of legislation that designates products vital for war, a pandemic, natural disaster, etc. must be manufactured domestically.
Chase Bell
I think your first point is spot on. You will see more locally produced goods to reduce strains on supply chain. I disagree with your second point however, even though I wish otherwise. I see the virus as leading towards more globalization, in terms of authority, not trade. Initially there will be increased nationalism, due to conflicts over staple goods, oil, and medical supplies, but ultimately the media will lead the push for a more united effort against crises of this sort (read: more centralized power via international treaties and NGOs). I hope I'm wrong.
Dominic Miller
Why are slavs girls so beautiful bros? What's their secret to look so young?

I also think you'll see open revolts in first world Western nations. In response, the governments of these countries will probably move towards even higher levels of social welfare to assuage civil discontent.
Landon Robinson
What's going on is that the Corons Virus pandemic is just showing everyone how things have always been, psychologically. It's always been shit. It's always been fucking torture. It's always been a prison the size of a nation, and growing. What's different now is that people don't have anymore distractions. People are finally realizing the truth of the world we've created for ourselves and it's finally falling apart. The end times are here.
Brody Cook
One positive in this may be some form of a "social reset," and the need for face-to-face contact could possibly cause a blow to dating apps, and perhaps some forms of social media.
Another, maybe moreso in the US, is more lax sick leave policies, and potentially a more lax work culture as a result. A lot of US companies over the years have switched to lumping both sick and vacation time in as just general "PTO," which is often pretty scarce to begin with. Employees tend to hoard these days and have also tended to go to work sick in order to avoid taking a day off (or falling off balance with their workload). This is an issue that has needed to be addressed in the US for some time, and now that a virus of this magnitude is truly fucking up production, companies may very well have to adjust for liabilities sake.
Good point with the sick leave. I’ve lived in both burger and leaf land and the sick days policies of my US employers were always ridiculous, comparatively
Colton White
>Expect “Made in America” or wherever else to be a huge selling point again.
No. There will instead be a push to have some sort of agreement with China to ensure a certain amount of products are guaranteed to be shipped, even in a crisis or more preemptive stockpiles etc. Most businesses (especially big ones) will absolutely not agree to do manufacturing within the U.S. because it's just too expensive compared to elsewhere. Even if the U.S. puts new policies in place such as tax breaks or other incentives so that companies do more manufacturing with the states, China will just find a way to get costs lowered on their end to compensate. Some manufacturing could be brought back to the states but the overwhelming majority will not.
Globalism has already won you absolute brainlet. You have no clue how the world works and some of your predictions are merely a grand fantasy that simply won't happen. The elite class will never, ever let it happen. For your predictions to come true in terms of more nationalism and more "Made in America" products being made, it would take a massive and violent revolt involving many MANY millions of people such that much of the elite class is killed.
There might be changes with the educational system, how people work in general, and inflation but holy fuck, thinking there will be increased nationalistic tendencies that actually persist or have any truly significant impact is nothing more than a pipe-dream and delusion.
also Plague wipes out authoritarian empires. So the current globalist plan to use the Plague to bring in their new world order is completely, utterly, doomed to failure. So whatever else it does, it won't do that. If anything, Corona-Chan has destroyed the NWO and any chance of bringing it in for a century.
Even if you do get sick time in the public sector, they often start requiring notes and you have to go through a song and dance to actually use the day. It's not the end of the world and it's still a benefit, but it's annoying, and sometimes you just want to rest when you're ill without getting a doctor involved. People need the time off in general. The work culture here contributes to how frequent people get sick, as well as long term illnesses.
Unfortunately the Left in the US, who is supposed to be championing these types of issues, is more concerned with sucking the cock of the medical complex than addressing issues rooted in our culture.
Plenty of other up-and-coming nations, both far East and elsewhere, would host our manufacturing and uphold to the standards of Western capitalism better than China though. Maybe not forever, but I'd bet they'd love to take the business from the Chinese.
This People have become too soft and their lack of fear about real world problems are what created social justice faggots People have now seen that their unquestionable trust in the government, unwaverable belief in modern society is misplaced and that the lives they live are on a fault line that could open and swallow them at any time.
Levi Wood
based thread OP but unfortunately this normies are looking at this 'new normal' through infinite layers of conditioning. all they want to do is go back to working 9-5, watching netflix, and enjoying the jewish benefits of captitalisms globalist exploitation. as far as they understand they dont WANT to change. if there is to be a major shift. trump has to stop being a fagot and shielding everyone from the truth, rip the bandaid off and pour some gasoline on it, and let everyone see whats really going on. short of that, everything goes back to 2018 level depravity in a few months
Samuel Campbell
Global economy will not change. Cat's out of the bag, so to speak. The error which led to this problem was the absence of a cohesive response spanning nations. WHO failed miserably, so did the CDC in the USA. Not sure WTF China did but it didn't work. Italy was a total fuck up. Spain the same. All of these respective sub-"bureaus" in these countries should be shaken out and retooled so that: 1.Testing capability is up to date and well-funded and well-supplied. 2. Containment protocols are sufficiently strict and not "exploratory". 3. The use of methods which worked in countries like Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea are well publicized and integrated into national health systems. 4. Information is shared in a timely manner - much like the stock market. 5. People who are infected are TRACKED and quarantined immediately.
Well put. That was one of the things that really hit me about the whole situation- how thin the veneer of modern civilization is. People put so much trust in the government providing for them, the police protecting them, doctors saving them, and grocery stores bringing them a non-stop stream of goods from all over the world and the whole thing is so ridiculously fragile. We’ve gotten SO soft and SO removed from any shred of self reliance or sustainability. Corona-Chan made this very clear: hopefully to many more people more than us
Owen Brooks
Chinks will have hell to pay after this is all over, that's for sure. At best they'll lose most of their economic and political ties, and be treated like a pariah. At worst, war, either them lashing out or others demanding retribution. Also spot on about how this will effect globalism. I also wouldn't be shocked if we see radical political change if this goes on for too long, turning farther and farther to the extremes, especially if people start to starve. That's what caused most of the major regime changes and dictatorships in the modern era, from the nazis to the soviets, even the french revolution.
