Y’all getting gold during this pandemic?
Y’all getting gold during this pandemic?
Based liberty head poster
Are those quarter or half?
I stocked up on ammo. Silly me
Both halves. From a guy’s collection, I bought them today. Melt value of each is $450 and I got them both for $400 total. They’re in amazing quality so I have a feeling (once slabbed) they’ll go for a lot more.
Well I’ve already got plenty of that leaf
no one wants to give me their gold. :(
>waiting until now
What the hell I hope you had those laying around and didn't buy them. Those are probably worth more as a coin that it's weight in gold lol
What the fuck are you going to do with gold? How will you carry it? How will you spend it? How will you divide it for transactions? Am I going to give you change for the small flakes of gold you are trying to give me for for dented bean cans?
I stand corrected I couldn't find the weight in a quick search. Neat coins user
I invest I don't speculate. Gold does nothing to create wealth so it doesn't earn wealth. I want my investments to be making me money not changing in value requiring me to sell to extract a profit.
Bought in 17, trying to offload them now but people don't want to pay a premium.
>muh metals from the ground
Stacked silver beforehand, sitting comfy and waiting out the panics and quarantines. I started after 2008 so gold has always been overpriced for me.
How do you test gold coins to prove that they're real?
you do all the tests to make sure they're legit? the collector in me has a mental breakdown seeing such valuable coins in 10 cent 'protectors.'
>I invest I don't speculate.
What do you do in times of market uncertainty and/or widespread economic downturns?
from a practical standpoint does it make more sense to accumulate smaller things like coins over bars and bricks? i imagine if you ever did need to barter/trade having smaller units would be more flexible
Silver fractionals
>What do you do in times of market uncertainty and/or widespread economic downturns?
I buy more if prices are low. If the dividends paid are reduced that slows the growth of my wealth but I never lose anything. I don't leverage myself with my stock value to buy more potentially leaving me open to a margin call. Bond funds are generally constructed to be as robust as possible, I'll lend Apple money because my interest rate is lower than their tax rate on repatriated money.
Always buy being cognizant of what it will mean to sell those things.
You want something easily recognizable which makes selling easier.
1oz units are the best because they are generally fungible, and a decent amount of value, but small enough to be useful
My larger items are to satisfy my curiosity more than a strategic store of wealth.
Things like US eagles, Mapleleafs are ideal because they are easy to identify
>Silver fractionals
having some constitutional us coins (1964 and older dimes and quarters) is OK for this purpose, but realistically, its only 90% silver, and aside from an interchange medium, is kind of a pain. someone who wants silver for industrial use might prefer to get something .999 instead.
I recommend just sticking with 1oz units
I can't wait to aquire some more myself this summer. All the forest burns should make for some good metal detecting.
Yeah, I'm going to need to see documentation on that claim.
And there aren't many dumber buys for asset/inflation protection than a collector's item that happens to have gold in it. You're at $375 for the gold and best price you're going to see for XF/AU common date is going to carry about a 25% premium over melt.
yeah my thinking is its best to buy old coins, because those would be very difficult to counterfeit.
>bruh what are you gonna do to spend them!??
This isn’t my full collection, and I intend on shipping them to PCGS/NGC like I usually do and getting them graded, and then selling.
The point of the post was that people NEED cash and they are selling anything of value to get it. I bought both of those this morning, and intend to ship them off this week for grading.
Pic is some silver I’ve had since I was a kid. Disregard the prices, most aren’t worth what I assessed them as a middle schooler
>you’re only going to get 25% over melt at XF/AU
Maybe if I sold to a dealer, these two are fairly high grade though.
>intend on shipping them to PCGS/NGC like I usually do
Surely only your better grades. Slabbing is like $30 minimum or something.
Ignore, I see you meant your gold coins.
>spending the premium on numismatic

I bought a gold Rolex a few months ago. Made more sense than just buying a few ounces. Gold holds value because it is rare and everyone has agreed it has value for the last several thousand years. Even more so a master crafted watch made out of that material.
Oh, yeah obviously. I’m also considering buying a couple of collections in bulk and then selling them as “grab bag” lots. People do it all the time and make an absolute killing.
why would anyone accept gold for food?
wouldnt investing into boolits be better?
People do in fact need cash/money.
Most people would not buy gold/silver even during good times as an investment. What makes you think they would spend what little money they have on useless metals? I dont think my bank will accept doubloons as payment nor will my local stores.
>i bought these and plan to ship them off to get graded
you wasted your money and time. good job.
None of this answers my question at all. >banks are non-existent, society has collapsed, you are forced to barter with your binder of silver coins from 1938
If you try to offer me a coin that some dealer said is worth $27 in 1998 for 5 22lr bullets you aren't getting shit. How is this in any way useful? Am I going to melt it down or something? Why not stockpile something practically useful as well? Like batteries or raisins or gauze bandages, shit anything other than a metal that is useful in jewelry or industrial manufacturing, neither of which I care about as an individual in the apocalypse
neat thanks
>bullets and PMs are mutually exclusive
Why do anti-PM shills keep insisting this retardation?
>>spending the premium on numismatic
I don't get why anyone really gives a shit. You pay for the gold+numismatic, you sell it for the price of gold+numismatic. The fact that it's a recognizable design as well makes dealers comfortable buying it vs rando gold bar. You take in a 10 oz bar and dealers will worry it's filed with tungsten or some shit and need to drill it
Waiting to pull it out if the mouths of the dead as payment for funeral services!!!
Gold isn't an investment, it's insurance.
>shill
take your meds
why would i accept gold in a collapse, shit is gonna be worthless to me
>getting them graded
I never buy graded coins
those grading services are a waste of money
i watch videos about people who keep sending their precious back until they get the grade they think it deserves.
its a good racket if you can pull it off...
but buying graded coins is for suckers
silver isn't a hedge against a total collapse
it's a hedge against devalued currency
so in your scenario, shit's fucked breh.
>why would i accept gold in a collapse
>accept gold in a collapse
>accept gold
>in a collapse
More anti-PM retardation.
Fuck off, reverse shill.
>during
retard
>I’m also considering buying a couple of collections in bulk and then selling them as “grab bag” lots. People do it all the time and make an absolute killing.
I tried to do that with world silver coins @ spot but by total weight, not a lot of interest even though it contains a lot of primo and interesting stuff for type collectors.
silver is one of the most powerful antibiotics that exist. It is made into colloidal silver using electrolysis.
In SHTF you would trade your daughter for that $27 1938 coin. Unless you were dumb.
>I don’t think my bank will accept doubloons as payment
You both are fucking idiots, neither of which were my point. I run my own business(which, as a SAAS product, has been minimally affected by this pandemic), and I have some extra cash for a profitable hobby of mine. I buy gold/silver coins at yard sales and flip them at retail on eBay all the time.
HOWEVER, as a lot of people have lost their income and need money now, I’ve noticed a significant uptick in valuables sales recently and this is just an example of someone cashing in on this for below-market value.
Roll Horder here. Save up on the gold Bois. You'll need it if you wana wipe your behind with soft fabrics in the future.
Yeah, trouble is I started at platinum. Bunch of noobs playing now.
Paying more for less gold is the final smoothbrain. You're not guaranteed melt + numismatic.
This guy gets it
Do gold retards really not understand that in an apocalypse scenario gold is worthless? Gold only has value in a functioning society
Good to know user. I feel like if I put together a stand-alone website for just grab-bags and then did some paid-placements(e.g. sending a free $100 grab bag for someone with a large audience to unbox) I could see some significant traffic.
I had silver beforehand. Why the drop? Any prediction on where it will go?
Okay, sure. If the boog happens I’m fucked with gold. That wasn’t the point here. These coins are being graded and resold, as mentioned elsewhere in the thread. This isn’t my apocalypse insurance.
both look counterfeit. you'd have to be a brainless mong to buy unslabbed pre 33' especially indians without being an expert whose been burned many times already
>buying coins and not ingots
Lel
I was gonna buy silver bullion a year or two ago, anticipating the collapse. Just cause it looks cool pretty much. But I spent it all on cocaine instead. hah... Probably worth it.
>Melt value of each is $450 and I got them both for $400 total.
melt value is $392 and it's very likely both are counterfeits
Yeah I would have been all over it a couple years ago, I now have bags and bags of the stuff. I put the best examples in cardboard flips for my type collection and very slowly sell the rest. Also have .999 bars and SLV for the purer speculative idea.
Why? Can you eat gold? Does it grow food when put in the ground? Can I fuck it?
>These coins are being graded and resold
you mean getting body bagged
Nigger, gold, silver, and platinum are sold out everywhere.
This kills the TP hoarder
Nah, you can keep your RuneScape gold, we trade in weapons and women around here, drugs too, maybe
>buying gold when it's skyrocketing
user you should be on /bizz/ buy high sell low
I got my 5 kg years ago, never disappointed, its a profit rarely seen over the years.
The value of silver comes from one of two things.
It's pretty, rare, and soft. making it a good material for jewellery.
Or as industrial materials.
Jewellery is useless in the best of times. When shit hits the fan Jewellery is a big ol beacon for people to rob your ass.
The sheer amount of silver and other materials/chemicals needed for industrial use makes your puny collection effectively useless to them.
>I never buy graded coins
Neither do I. If I'm going to get a coin graded it's because I'm selling it. That's why I have none currently in my collection.
I've been slowing constructing my Gold and Silver Lego Temple dedicated to Terry Davis and Temple OS. I promise to post photos once construction is complete.
>not buying large amounts of shatter

Average american post
I just don't believe that a bunch of Yas Forums retards are gonna get rich from gold and silver. I just don't believe it. No fucking way. The prices of gold and silver are going to tank.
Yeah I also bought as much gold and silver as I could get my hands on last month, so I am a retarded too.
