The media has done an excellent job of scaring the shit out of normies, and depressingly few people care about the loss of their basic human rights. I understand, but the situation requires it. Compare it to wartime. Many things were different, because they needed to be. Blackouts, curfews, drafting, rationing. It was necessary. If people are asked to politely to stop inside, they won't do it as much. and they are not just risking themselves getting infected, but also others. Regardless of whether it turns out to have been not as bad as people might have thought, in any epidemic situation, the population would have to be locked down, i think that's what people understand.
