As a made up example, suppose you have perfect knowledge of how everyone and the physical world they're participating in will react given different messages. And suppose you know if you tell someone holding a doomsday weapon trigger that if they panic they'll accidentally activate it and kill everyone on the planet. But if you tell them they aren't holding a doomsday weapon trigger at all but rather a dummied out test prop them they'll stay calm, eventually put the trigger down, and will walk away with the crisis averted. And telling them nothing either way will result in them triggering the weapon accidentally by not paying attention to it because you never interrupted their train of thought with a message for them.
In that scenario you could argue it'd be morally better to lie than to tell the truth.

What's the lie? The masks do work, but people tend to have gaps while wearing them, or are constantly touching their face/nose/eyes which gets in the same way if you touch an infected surface.

To be fair I had to go out the other day and I saw multiple negros wearing masks in a way that covered their mouths but kept their nose exposed (seriously it was only black people doing this, I don't know how people are this fucking dumb), multiple people touching their face despite wearing a mask, and multiple people wearing masks, then pulling down the filter with their hand to puff on a cigarette and then returning it by grabbing the filter again. These people are literally wasting resources by misusing them as a security blanket rather than actually PPE

Surgical masks won't do much and that's where the idea came from but it was never stated as surgical masks, just masks. even N95 masks only filter down to 0.3 microns and COVID is 0.125 microns so the virus enveloped in the smallest aerosols from a cough will pass through.

In short: They failed as journalists, as they did not convey the basic information every pol-tard had since mid-january about masks.
