Britain is a tiny island yet accounts for huge portions of the most influential literature, music, and art. It's language is the de facto global lingua franca. It has created, and is one of, 5 (probably the top 5) of the most desirable countries to live in, is responsible for the invention of the Web, the Computer, the Train, discovery of Electricity, Gravity, laws of Motion, antibiotics etc., as well as having the 2nd total number of Nobel laureates (twice as many per capita as USA), as well as the largest Empire in History.
Fact is, the only countries that could even try to compete with England for achievements are ones that were colonised, and established by England, and initially infused with English settlers, culture, laws, etc.
