I get an internal chuckle from seeing people who aren’t properly trained on how to use masks. Stirring Starbucks coffee with your gloves on and a mask around your neck utterly defeats the purpose.

I think Americans and Europeans dislike the idea of using protective masks as it can indicate a judgment on your fellow citizens. Why would you wear a mask among your own? Because you think they're unclean and cannot be trusted. Insectoids in Asia aren't afflicted with ideas like that, hell, they'll run over an infant with a car and nobody except the mother will even stop and take notice.
