Because essential jobs still have there normal hours and pay and that's not even true cause lots of companies are giving raises to accommodate. The others have actually no money and have no clue when they'll go back to work so they get leeway with bills and extra cash.

But I am getting paid more. I got a raise and OT is now x2 instead of time and a half, I also got unlimited sick time and unlimited unpaid time off. Meaning if I need an extended leave and can make do without being paid, I won't be fired even if I take 2 months off to shelter in place. They are heavily encouraging people to stay on by offering raises, bonuses, and double time pay. If I work full time this month I get a $4000 bonus.
