I am an EMT. We have a COVID19 protocol. The first mandatory PPE on the list if an N95 face mask...this is my personal PROTECTIVE equipment. It protects me from the patient and, potentially, the patient from me. I can not say how many times over the years in continuing medical education classes that they have emphasized the importance of wearing a mask to protect US, especially from patients with communicable respiratory issues. Even the surgical style mask offer some level of protection from a virus suspended in sputum. This whole thing about telling the public that masks are useless for protection or even potentially harmful is maddening nonsense.
