I work for the Navy command that manages these two ships. They're just oil tanker ships that were repurposed into floating hospitals. We mostly use them for humanitarian missions to places that suffered some disaster like a hurricane or tsunami. In the event of a hot war they'd help treat military trauma patients. I got calls from several doctors today asking about procedures I'd decided to postpone to avoid the hospital. They never proactively contact patients. I think they're checking who needs sent to the boat so they can declare hospitals covid-only. That's good as hospitals are disease-spreaders.
