i'd be more worried about the food supply. Farming equipment fails, most cars and trucks would fail, no power everywhere since Solar flare would fry transformer stations(dunno the real name, allthough i know those things take years to build) So yea i'd worry more about our food supply. Because t'd ruin all our logistics to ship the food where its needed and all stuff needed to store it properly, to clean it properly, to harvest properly, to prepare the fields etc... Solar flare would cause billions of deaths. Simply because most people lack any agricultural skill, nor are there enough seeds for purchase available.

Actual photons are not evenly distributed in direction, and/or they are blocked by other energies. The could be if you had a black box of 1 particle that perfectly exploded.
