Remember that story about thousands of urns in China, supposedly proving higher rates of death? This story is now debunked. Turns out this story was pushed by US funded Radio based on anonomous sources. On March 26, Caixin reported that 5,000 cremation urns had arrived at a mortuary in Wuhan over a two-day period. This is treated as nefarious evidence of Chinese government deception solely because it exceeds the official death total in Wuhan.
RFA completely ignores the fact that residents have continued to die from other causes during the pandemic, as well as the backlog in funerals and cremations caused by the city’s several month long lockdown. In 2019, approximately 56,000 cremations took place in Wuhan, according to the city’s official statistics.
That means that roughly 4600 residents died per month, a figure that was likely higher during the winter months and with Wuhan’s health care system overwhelmed by the outbreak. With Wuhan under lockdown since January 23, a substantial increase in the use of funeral homes and crematoriums should have been expected.
Unconcerned with the dearth of hard evidence marshalled by RFA, or its transparently shoddy methodology, US corporate media — alongside far-right, neoconservative Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton — have amplified the US government outlet’s incendiary claims. Outlets that uncritically pushed the story included Bloomberg, TIME, VICE, Yahoo! News, Newsweek, and Fox News.

I have some questions regarding this that my chinese counter part never bothered to answer 1. It was reported in Malaysian and Singaporean newspapers as early as September that there was an increased number of pneumonia related deaths in Wuhan. China only started counting Covid deaths in January. How many of the pneumonia deaths were reopened to investigate the cause? 2. Why did China issue a travel advisory to Malaysia in October warning us of pneumonia illnesses borne by chinese tourists? 3. I am aware of 100 deaths of chinese nationals in Malaysia between november and december 2019 whose COD was recorded as unknown pulmonary /heart/lung failure. On subsequent testing by us in the last month, we only now know that these 100 did possess covid. When consolidating with chinese authorities before, we were requested that the COD be changed to generic lung failure etc. Were these deaths ever revisited by chinese authorities? 4. Were all of the above counted in the death count?

No, even in the lockdown people still die. Not so many, but you can't give people immortality just by locking them up. Some people die from heart related causes during stress, some were probably low on medicine in the difficult time and it could worsen their condition. There would still be many reasons for natural deaths, even though during unnatural times they are not so natural, but still - unrelated to corona.

How about you read the article - no one said they don't exist. but there are people who die from natural causes in Wuhan. Urns get delivered in big shipments 2 times a year or so. This number of urns is pretty normal for a city the size of Wuhan and there is nothing abnormal about it, but since people don't know whats normal and what is not normal in China - these people can be decieved into believing lies.
So i keep wondering - with increasing death of Americans from corona, will Americans start increasing the numbers of imaginary dead Chinese too to compensate for loosing so many lives? So even if there will be 100000 dead Americans, Americans will claim that there are more than 100000 dead Chinese? What if there will be 200000 dead Americans? Will they have to increase their estimate of dead Chinese every step of the way, just to not think in their head that they are the worst? How far will they go? Will we see millions of dead Chinese claimed by US government?
