no, a women came in several days ill and finally got in to see the doctor, she was told she had the virus, but Amazon wanted lab proof so management HR told her she would have to work until she provided proof.

Her supervisor told her to go home. He got into trouble for doing that, he said in the meeting that management needed to tell workers they had sick people, management said no. he said they needed to disinfect like the other amazons did, the management said no. so he said he was going to tell workers and they told him to go home. he was put on report.

so he showed up at work everyday and sat in the cafeteria and told people the truth of what was happening. after a few days he a bunch of workers walked out in a strike, he was then fired.

So was that happening at a lot of warehouses or just this one? Sounds like other amazons were doing things differently, or no?

They’re striking so that they get access to hand sanitizer and masks. They want amazon to close the warehouse and clean it and pay them. It’s only right they get paid since it was amazons own negligence that necessitates it now. These people come into contact 100s of packages a day, it’d be best to keep them sanitary and happy.

Plus, to make it even better, we have the rent-strike bullshit, where suddenly EVERYTHING is a human right we should be given free, or that because times are tough they shouldn't pay rent. These are kids who had parents pay for everything growing up, and somehow think the landlords can pull money from their ass to pay for service/maintenance calls to HVAC, plumbers, electricians, pest control, appliance repair,etc without anyone paying rent. And the sudden anti-landlord thing seems to think once you finish paying for something, like a home mortgage, it should be given away for free, and you can't use anything you own to generate income. Your car must now be loaned out to everyone else for free too, otherwise you are rent-seeking.

All the calls for strikes basically everywhere still open, demand higher pay since they think the "essential services" term automatically mean the workers themselves are suddenly as important as doctors since having grocery stores to buy food is considered an essential need for things to stay under control. The demands are always listed as 1.higher pay plus new "hazard pay", then a distant second, almost an afterthought, 2.PPE.

Everyone should be allowed to wear masks/gloves, even if they are just using homemade masks, and if actual masks/respirators get in supply again give them out as needed. But you can't expect quarantine paid time off every time 1 out of 500 employees coughs.
Unless you are willing to stay isolated on-site, like how power plant workers are getting ready to live there temporarily, you can't expect the employer to take responsibility for people getting infected off the clock and bringing it in.

They are almost as far up the totempol that a retail worker can get. They live in isolation, are surrounded by their own tightknit community, and only deal with merchandise that has been in quarentine inside its box/shipping container for the 3 days it takes to kill the virus outside of the host.
All they ahve to do is leave trailers in the parkinglot for 3 fucking days before bringing it inside and they are fine.
