FN PS90 owner reporting in. Up until last week, my /nogunz/ roommates thought I was crazy for getting "something like that instead of a shotgun, because that's all you need". They've since changed their stance.

As for the gun, apart from not being SBRed quite yet, it's my favorite PDW/home defense gun I've owned thus far. It's also quite entertaining getting shit from all the FUDDs at the range because it looks too 'assault weapony'.

yeah, they are very accurate so aim for the head. plenty accounts of people and even deer being killed by .22. shot placement is key. if you panic, mag dump every round into the same general area of their body until they drop.

What's your definition on mid-range?
I'd personally consider the .22 to be somewhat decent way of harassing targets at 50 yards, if using a suppressor.

Those are so nice. Make paper carts and get extra cylinders so you can get decent reload speeds.

Thanks gunfrens, I feel a little better. I've just had this irrational and irrepressible psychological need for a better rifle since all this started, but I have easy access to said 10-22 and several quality side arms in.38 special and 9mm, and I guess if shit really goes down and it's chaos, shooting, and looting in the streets, that's enough of a starting point that I'll be able to leverage into procuring more and better armament as needed.

5.56 isn't that big of a bullet to really take on body armor. But 12 gauge slugs or 50 bmg is where it's at.

I have a gun and I was going to buy a large4 calibur rifle when I realized we're fucked. We're completely fucked. When martial law is in full effect, and the army has full authority to arrest and detain anyone they want or even vanish them completely to down right shooting us dead on sight, it won't matter how many fucking guns or ammo you've stock piled. If they see you as a threat, you're dead. You're just dead. The army has far too much gear, training and numbers for the average person to ever dream of standing against. You will be subjugated, disarmed, and killed. No bunker or tree fort would stop it. So, for looters fine. For the big one - we're fucked.

TO NOGUNZ: If your gun stores are closed or empty, check Armslist. Look for sales by private sellers and make sure it's legal in your state to purchase without paperwork (most states, it is).

WHAT TO BUY: if you're in or very near a city, get literally any high capacity handgun you can find ammo for, preferably in 9, 40, or 45. Look up pricing to make sure you're not being ripped off. If you're not near a city or can afford a second gun, get any modern high capacity rifle. AR (NOT a polymer lower receiver unless nothing else is available), AK, mini 14, kel tec rifles, M1 carbine, pistol caliber carbines are fine but less preferable.

DO NOT: buy a shotgun, unless it's all you can find/afford. If you're turbopoor, get a semi auto .22LR rifle or pistol.

If you can, having multiple magazines for all guns is preferable. I'd say 2 for pistols and 4 for rifles is an absolute minimum. Of course, you'll also need ammo, so make sure you can get it before purchasing the gun(s).

Run CCI stingers or mini mags through it. 20 25 rounds of .22lr would fuck you up. Not more than 5.56 tho. But still way better than nothing at all.

A 12ga shotgun should be the second gun every gun owner buys after a semi auto pistol. It is the most versatile of all guns and can cause the max amount of damage in close quarters with the right loads.

I use both pmags and Glocks. I actually have a GWACS lower, but the other polymer lowers on the market don't hold a candle.

An AR can kill anything within 500m while being easier to shoot, more accurate, much higher capacity, easier to reload, etc etc. Shotguns are terrible for beginners. Next you'll tell me revolvers are a good first handgun.

There is no situation outside of hunting or blowing off door hinges where a shotgun is preferable to an AR.

pmags are alright, but surefeed mags are the absolute cream of the crop.

Meh, i shoot clays every weekend at a semi pro level. Skeet and Sporting alternating weekend, generally at 25yard skeet and up to 70 yards with a shotgun - clays of all types, rabbits, 90mm etc

I also shoot rifles but 25m discipline standing and 10m standing. I am telling you now, a shotgun is the easier tool for a noobie. If you think a noobie is slotting a shot in a 3ft radius past like 50 yards on someone even at walking pace is laughable.

I shoot moving targets every single time with a shotgun with a 97% ish rating at skeet, 85% ish rating at Sporting and Trap. I see idiots come and do farely well out the gate but given a rifle, its shake shake shake trying to hold it. I practice 100 mounts a night like 3-4 times a week and other things and I am consistent in my score, no luck involved in my averages they are smooth. A noob won't hit you unless he is lucky, range time is king.

You're only adding to the pro AR side of the debate. 31 rounds for someone struggling to aim is much better than 5-9, especially with the comparatively heavy recoil of a shotgun. A new shooter will fuck up after the first shot. Shooting clays does not translate to self defense.
