Just in regards to the oil price thing going on
I work in the shipping industry, in the offshore sector. I work on ships that resupply drill rigs. (delivering food, medicines etc to the workers).
Normally, the world is at 30-40% capacity in oil storage. Right now though, we are approaching 90%. When it hits 100% the whole world is pretty much doomed.
This is the thing that nobody seems to be reporting on/talking about. 50% of all crude oil comes out of the gulf of Oman. When demand falls to effectively zero the whole world will grind to a halt basically. This will be 2008 recession x10.
90% of world exports is by sea, in the aftermath of this its anyones guess what will happen

>251463631 user, you don't understand how it works. demand right now is so low the price has sunk so much it is unprofitable to be an oil producer anywhere that isn't russia or OPEC. a big part of the bill just passed is it is a lifeline to try and keep american oil industries alive in a time when running means losing a shitton of money right now the world's measly demand is kept up because oil is so cheap the big spenders have figured "well we're not using it but might as well just stockpile." when those stockpiles fill, demand falls even further, the price sinks even lower, oil producers operate at even greater losses. many will likely shut down when our oil producers shut down, and then whenever we resume our economy and demand shoots back to normal, not only are prices gonna skyrocket, but the only major producers will be in OPEC and russia (and we don't buy from russia so basically just OPEC). we'd be hyper-dependent on foreign oil and now incredibly invested in middle eastern events
