14 of my 22 tenants are refusing to pay rent. I still have to make mortgage payments. This isn’t right. I am a human being that worked hard and bought rental properties so I could comfortably retire and tend to my passions. Now I could potentially lose my life’s work because of slackers who live hand to mouth and refuse to have emergency funds like responsible members of society. I have a family to feed to, why shouldn’t I get paid? Why should I subsidise other people’s shelter from my own pocket? When are property owners getting OUR bailout? It's NOT fair

I have enough emergency funds to cover five maybe six tenants not paying their rent but 14? 14! Why should I wipe out MY savings over this? Landlords are entitled to a larger check for EACH MONTH of the shutdown.

My landlord called 3 times in a row today.
Called her back and she said she was coming over to pick up the rent check (She's an old boomer that doesn't know how to use online transfers.)
Hand her the check and tell her I probably won't be able to pay next month's rent.
She gives me the "but I have to pay for the mortgage" reply.
Her husband is out of work for 2 months now and on unemployment.
She still works a part-time job doing something? (Didn't ask what.)

She only rents out one property that's just my small house she used to live in.

State governments here have already said they're not allowing foreclosures. And if they tried to do it afterwards, that'd be a wonderful thing to take to court over, but most likely they'll just write the missing payments off so as to avoid getting dragged into a PR mess.
