I'd think very few would be going in person or at their regular address, due to the virus. So that means college kids, and likely illegals would be less likely to reply/be counted while more traditional folks (i.e., people more likely to vote conservative) are more likely to be counted. Since this will impact house representation (this year? next time?) and electoral votes, I'm thinking it's a silver lining. But I'm just bullshitting, so I'm wondering if someone more deliberate than I had discussed it.
>251404557 i've explained this a number of times but here it goes again, here's a very ballpark estimate: the flu last season killed 50k people. 5% of people were medically confirmed to have the flu (visited a doctor and diagnosed, as opposed to merely having symptoms). the flu has a lethality rate of 1.5% for people over 65 and 0.01% for people under 65 if coronavirus has twice the spread (10%) and 10x the lethality (15% for people over 65, 0.1% for people under 65) then you can expect around a million deaths in america from it. that's with a shitton of assumptions, and one thing to note is that spread will only be high in urban areas, not the whole US. we can tone down our numbers, but it definitely looks like 100k
another way to look at it is to examine the current lethality in our major cities and start modelling what the expected outcomes and deaths will be for each. if we have 20 big degenerate cities that each see at least 5,000 deaths, then the US still breaks 100k. new york is currently at 1.7k deaths. if we expand that to 50 places (each state), you just need an average of 2k deaths per state, well within the realm of possibility (new york, new orleans, new jersey, some others will all make up for nebraska, west virginia, montana) the CDC's current 100k-200k estimate makes sense. the initial 2.2m estimate was bogus
