Redpill me on trucking pls

I have been wage slaving in the corporate world for a while now and I’m fucking tired of it. Sick of the diversity hires, women (especially hr karens), and shitty coworkers/office politics.

I have been thinking about getting into trucking for a while but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Obvious downsides are being away from home, potentially long hours, being stuck at shitty truckstops for 36 hours at a time, eating unhealthy, driving with women and minorities on the road.

It seems like some places still pay well and have benefit packages. I’m not concerned about being away from home bc wgaf? I fucked up and waited too long so all the decent waman (if any even exist anymore) are taken.

I know there has to be some anons who drive

Can you shift through this pattern in traffic while being cut off and brake checked? Didnt think so. Trucking is for MEN not boys.

It's slowly going automated

Kenworth makes the world's best trucks.

You will live in a cab the size of a bathroom. The job has an insane amount of rules. Your time will be wasted on a scale you previously thought unimagineable. Simple things like using the bathroom and showering become a total pain in the ass. You will be paid slightly better than a wagie that lives at home.

You are a Brainlet if you fall for the scam that is self driving vehicles. I bet you think before the end of this year there’s going to be a bunch of autonomous model three taxis rolling around right? Elon is that you?

Idk much about it, but I've met a trucker that goes around the country and clears 100k easy. He doesn't even have a home, just a couple acres and a P.O box in a small town. Pretty based honestly, but he does meth to keep himself up for DAYS at a time.

there's a trucking industry recession right now. i would avoid trucking like the plague. shit pay, shit quality of life and automation in a decade or so

t. man who works at a large logistics company

I’m fine with that. Just went five days without showering with no problems whatsoever. It’s not needed every day or even every other day.

I keep reading about people who make $80,000 a year or more. And all those rules make it harder for shit skins and other undesirables to enter the field

Know lots of truck drivers in Chicago and Dallas., they used to make great money 40k-70k +, now it's slowing down. Automation will happen in next ten years. Also most have back or foot issues, and no pensions. Not great if you have a family with kids.

they use automated manual gearboxes these days

WRONG FAGGOT. AINT NO COMPUTER BACKING A 53 INTO A NJ DOCK.

Agree 100%

sandhogging and oil rigging are the way to go, not going to get replaced by robots in the near future in any way

Reddit is for faggots but old.reddit.com/r/Truckers/ shows the reality of OTR life.

The captcha you filled out to make this post is being used in a self-driving algorithm.

It could take 10 years longer to "automate" than the average Elon-worshipper thinks it will though, which is longer than most careers last these days. So if you want to go for it then do it. Paradoxically there could be a shortage of truck drivers in the next few years as the automation hype could have scared off a few potential truck drivers.

Please explain how an automated truck is going to go through a snowy overpass or crowded dt city. They can’t even figure out how to handle rain or left turns right now and we are already at the five year mark of “omg sdcs right around the corner!” Bs hype

It used to be a good gig but robots will do most of the work in the near future. Likely there will be much lower paying jobs riding along for security and taking over driving if there is a breakdown or problem.

If you are a corporate wage slave now, see if you can scam them into getting an MBA at their expense. Particularly in marketing, or go back to school and get journalism..

Robots wont be able to market products or write anytime soon.

You will be eating out for all 3 meals every day, unless you can shop, it gets expensive. Multiculturalism entered the trucking industry 15 years ago. DO NOT LEASE !

Already caravans of automated truck that tested CA to Texas route with one driver or (navigator) Volvo/Mercedes already have the tech and will be ready soon.

worked with several people who used to be owner/operator truckers. great money but prepare to be on the road 90% of the year. also, you better be able to spend 20k at a moment's notice when your truck inevitably breaks down. also enjoy your wrecked body.

also, driving a truck is not fucking easy if you live anywhere that gets snow and has hills. the real money comes from industrial trucking - heavy equipment moves and whatnot.

very few drivers mak 80k. Lots of immigrants are owner operators or lease out a few trucks to other immigrants, mainly Eastern Europeans. Saw only nig and very few beaners at the truck parking.

Trucking is wage-slaving to the max. Drive where and when they tell you, under nearly impossible deadlines, frequently sleep in your 'office', not much better pay than decent office jobs.

It's literally a dying industry wringing the last usefulness from humans that it can. Enjoy.

Volvo makes the best trucks from all the drivers who I know

I own a small fleet - 8 trucks.

Pros - money is good when you own your own equipment. You can't lease and get ahead.

Cons - maintenance and repair costs, driver turnover, just dealing with drivers period. Shippers, receivers, insurance company, DOT, mechanics.

The trucks and the shippers are the only productive people/things in a large financial web - everyone tries to skin you.

Old and paid for equipment, solid contracts, low debt is the only way to make it. Otherwise it's just a matter of time before you lose everything.

And honestly, being a driver sucks. Shit slides downhill.

Avoid lot lizards and meth.

Looks like it would be cool job in the movies! 10-4

I prefer it to tradesmen work personally. Not backbreaking and the night owl schedule suits a schizo like me.

No different to most blue collar gigs.

Sleeping in a truck with the engine running at night
Go ahead and try to get a nice restful sleep with a very loud Diesel engine
Vibrating and banging off your eardrums
It’s torture

First of all your going to need a real truck. Not a piss ant 18 wheeler.

And what happens when those trucks need to go through the north east, the north west, or the south east as well as a major city?

There’s a reason why Uber shut down otto.

When I start trucking in a few years I'll be throwing away nearly 15 years worth of military experience (IT) including my clearance but i really don't care.

The Military has made me hate everything about what I once enjoyed on top of that I also hate people.

It somehow dawned on me that trucking is the perfect job for me. You're always on the road (can look at it as always escaping), it's only you out there in that truck and some of the biggest bullshit you have to deal with is some stupid rules and hurry up and wait. I also have no family or friends so i can spend months out there never in one place for too long.

Really don't give a fuck about showers or the food as I mainly eat meal replacement shakes and I shower every couple days.

I wish i had realized this years ago but that's fine I have 3 years to prepare myself for this, best part of it is I can get the Military to pay for a top of the line CDL school and with that I should be able to walk into a pretty decent company off the get go.

The though of trucking, long haul, is now all i can think about and i even dream about it. I have a pretty good idea of what the industry and daily life entails and if i continue to research for the last few years of my contract i should have no problem or surprises diving into that world.

Just don't be a retarded white trash smelly hillbilly who cuts people off for no reason. fucking hate retards who drive crazy

be safe and follow the rules

dont get into it.
robots driving trucks will be the norm within the next 10 years

It's a lot harder than what people think it is. But, if you're okay with your blood pressure shooting through the roof to the point that your head, neck, and chest hurt, all the while having the company you work for do everything in there power to not pay you, while also having the government regulate every single second of your day. Then congrats! You're prime retard material, and we'd welcome you among our ranks. Unless you're Somali, Seikh, or some other fucking worthless type of Leaf.

Yeah just like self driving cars were going to be the norm five years ago. When are you people going to give up that delusion

I pay my guys well and on time, insurance too, but other than that you're spot on.

>oil rigs
Even with a barrel at $30?

>I pay my guys well and on time, insurance too
So you're the grail everyone talks about. You know the one, "There are some good companies out there if you know where to look" Good to know you're a Yas Forumsack. I had my suspicions.

I'm not worried about the automated shit either becasue all it'll take is for someone to hack one of the trucks and use it to kill people or steal a load or to have a fatality caused by an automated.

Not the mention the cost of the infrastructure and the equiopement required to support the automated trucks. it'll be another 15-20 years AT LEAST before we start seeing widespread automation, that's assuming we're even around then.

Also don't give a fuck about the low pay as I have very little debt and I don't plan to have an apartment or car so off time will be spent in a hotel and using uber.

My main hobby is watching anime which i can download everything on the road or while at a truck stop for my 30 or 10.

If i feel the need to go out sight seeing I just call and uber or use a folding bike.

When i feel like eating a real meal i can use a portable grill, a hot plate or any other number of gear and just buy groceries at the local store instead of eating garbage.

The more I think about everything the more I want to do it.

It's even getting to the point where I'm thinking about way i can get myself kicked out so i can start sooner.

use some of your VA benefits and get a job with Ag, Indian affairs or parks, you will be outside and not need to deal with too many HR cunts and lib fags

There is no way that isn't a meme box. Never seen such a disjointed mess.

Dont do it bro.

Poor bastard

Why don't you think about getting your CDL instead of getting kicked out?

My dad hauls oil. It's slowed down a lot lately. It will probably pick back up in the future. Not a big deal if you get on with a company that guarantees a base weekly salary

Because it's still 3 years before I would be able to do any trucking with that CDL. if I get kicked out, higher tenure, than i could start trucking in as little as a few months.

It seems like it would be cool to see the country and all the roads across the country. Listen to George Noory at night.

been looking into this myself. Asked on a trucking forum and 60% of the replies said to do hotshot as there was better money. it doesn't require a CDL from what they said but you're still on the road a lot.

LOL they're all automated manuals now a days drivers today are steering wheel holders.

Get a tripac ffs

That's what people told me when I first started, but I've been 10 speed the whole time. I suppose the mega carriers are probably auto though.

>robots driving trucks will be the norm within the next 10 years
LMAO you tards can't into technology.
Tesla toy cars might drive acceptably under certain circumstances, but autopilot is far from being a reliable and safe option in every kind of road and weather conditions.
Where I live we don't even have automatic trains, because it is much more difficult and expensive to develop one than to sit a real driver in the seat.

10 speeds are pleb tier last truck i drove was double over 18.

Truckers drive for days on end without sleep and piss in a bottle in order to make their deadlines/get paid. It's a shit job you never want to do in current year unless you're some kind of pajeet independent contractor for trucking and hire all your cousins with fake licenses and no brake maint to drive.

They get a lot of tranny pussy I know that

Checked
Maybe, but I've only been in it for 4 years now. I know all you 30+ year super truckers like to go on about how long you keep your hand on the stick.

You cannot not pay attention to the road. You cannot exercise properly for hours at at time. You will inhale diesel fumes that cause you to gain weight, you will eat poorly, not get enough sunlight, be highly stressed by dangerous drivers including other truckers, you will risk your life, and you will get a pretty average paycheck, but far better than working in a pizza joint unless you own it.

Not true, you're required to take breaks and required off time at least in MURICA.

Indeed. I switched to regional after having to deliver to a store in Brooklyn. Fuck that shit.
