Some people argue that they like the right and left scale, it gives them some sort of direction to what they're life styles are.

I think the problem is more to the point people don't understand politics or how the system works, especially in the US where people are now worshiping the front liners, and ignoring their local or state politics.
People don't know they are being played into a pure democracy, which is bad.
I guess I'd fit within the 'left' side of it all, but I have voted for conservative parties before, because they were better in my local riding.

Yes. Only way for politics to improve is a population that spends time every day thinking for themselves. Otherwise politics is dominated by parlor tricks like false dichotomies, engineered division, etc.

We have to get people to do a lot more thinking or else they are thinking whatever the tv tells them to think. Take as much time as possible out of each day to think for yourself and relax, and try to get others to do that as well. You will learn so much about the world and about how to improve yourself and deal with your issues.
