I find it very odd and confusing and would like to know the reason why so many hospitals even in the hotspots are just empty in the USA if this virus is so contagious and dangerous.

I'm a physician (not in NY) and can confirm our hospital's inpatient and ED censuses are way, way down.

My friend works in an ER and she says there's not many people that are going in and a good portion of them are hypochondriacs that normally test negative. There's a been a few positives but about 90% are discharged within hours and ordered to stay at home for 14 days, in the past 2 weeks only about 8 of them had prolonged stays and just one had to be put on a respirator due to COPD.

Why did the seasonal flu overwhelm hospitals? It’s killed 5x the amount of COVID19 and has the same at-risk group and the deaths are also the result of pneumonia. They would also need ventilators. Most COVID patients that progress to pneumonia and ventilators don’t survive.
