You seem to have vim confused with an IDE. It is a text editor. You edit text with it. I do all that other shit in emacs.

honestly, in reality the distro really doesn't matter as much as the desktop environment. there's virtually no difference between manjaro KDE, fedora KDE, or Neon, for example. Maybe the package manager but that's it.

I set up a CentOS VM to do some testing on and holy fuck, GNOME 3 is the most gay and autistic fucking piece of trash I've ever used. Completely schizophrenic slow as fuck UI (with no features), multiple control panels for addons vs settings. Manual file edits to configure things. What the fuck are linux faggots smoking? I almost want to read their repo discussions to see the absolutely autistic bullshit that led to such bad decisions

Depends on your needs. I use Manjaro for gaming, Linux Mint gor HTPCs and Trisquel for personal use.

Convinced a buddy back in the day to install linux and not much later he got ultra butthurt because he installed some weird distro for whatever reason and complained about how nothing works. I didn't tell him to install gentoo or some shit I just said linux thinking he might download ubuntu. If you can't make that work I don't know what to tell you, it's literally almost easier than windows.
