You should have prepped enough food to not need to go shopping during this. Or at least enough so you don't risk a hospital stay when they're choosing who gets to die because of overcrowding and medicine shortages.
Even if you failed to adequately prep, you could have still been topping off via delivery or (for first world cityfags) personal shopper services which are much lower risk than a store.
The time to start using your food reserves was at the beginning of this month.
