Hey Yas Forums, I'm writing a paper for my liberal university and I'm operating under the guise of being unbiased and bipartisan, but my hope is to change the mind of some of my peers regarding their stances on homosexuality. A lot of them really are good people and they've just been mislead into believing that this sickness is normal. I'm not terrific with words and I'm kind of passionate about this so I lack the subtly necessary to make it work. How would you, in an academic way, structure this argument?

Use the CDC statistics on the prevalence of STD's amongst homosexuals. The human body didn't evolve to have anal sex with frequent and multiple partners, and the evidence that is the rate at which HIV and other diseases like syphilis occurs in gays. That one basic safety concern alone is a pretty solid argument that deliberately practicing homosexuality is immoral. Much less encouraging others (especially kids) to do it, or actively suppressing the health risks for PR purposes.

In this case then you’re going to need to develop some system (think the ideal state in the republic as an example) and use this as a way to show that a normal family that isn’t fag infected is the natural law of things. Husband, wife, children. To “convince” them you need basically a thesis that is so nuanced and developed that Plato would be proud. I doubt this is worth it though. You can however make an academically tolerable inductive argument.
It's not about convincing them that it's the path of least resistance to reject all homosexuals and all of homosexuality. It's about convincing them to choose to do so as a result of seeing it as a risky prospect with bad outcomes likely.
