Matthew 18:20: For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
You don't hold a monopoly of God's gift to mankind, kid fiddler
Grayson Rodriguez
Protestantism isn't the problem. It's the lack of a single cohesive state religion. When you mix a dozen branches of a religion together they start becoming flavors for people to try and excuse their inability to adhere to the first one they had. It's also why you see different churches trying to accept gays, have female pastors or allow other degenerate behavior. It's all pandering to get people's asses in seats who are themselves degenerates. A homogeneous faith society has no reason to let such things get a pass.
Also let's not forget you're talking about a church headed by pic related.
Thinking your magical sky daddy will give you eternal life if you just give up all forms of critical thought and suck Jewish cock is the problem.
Adrian Turner
Islam is full of nothing but centralized governments adhering strictly to one state religion and their countries are some of the largest shitholes on the planet. This also applies to the Hindus.
Why don't you fuckers just admit that your religions failed, and failed a long long time ago?
Like it or not, secularism is a good thing and not going away.
Christian Hughes
The literal church of Christ is the Orthodox church though.
Julian Morales
I don't agree that protestantism is necessarily the problem, but the answer isn't ethnochurches. Sweden has a national church with lesbian bishops and Anglicanism is pretty gay too.
Also, there is nothing wrong with Pope Francis and if that is your reason to spurge the sheer theological consistency of Catholicism, then you're doing it wrong and for extremely shallow reasons.
>be Science >religious institutions use you for all of human history to dupe the masses into freely giving up their self-agency and wealth >all while doing their utmost to deny you exist and if you do get discovered by random peasants, you're an agent of evil >after eons, finally start leaking to the masses, because you're Science and that's how you do >human lifespans, and quality of life skyrocket because powermongers are no longer your gatkeeper >same powermongers spend two full centuries denying you exist >powermongers never learn their lesson >masses slowly become more enlightened
And then some crippled old geezer uses you one more time to make a thread about how wonderful religion is.
Henry Williams
Are you having a stroke, brother? Why are you posting non sequiturs showing your lack of knowledge of the subject matter?
Yes, like all religious scholars, I see you have powerful reading comprehension and a strong desire to discover the truth.
Landon Ward
I hope one day you cure yourself from that awful cynicism and presumptuousness. I've been there too, brother. God bless you.
Jaxon Torres
I never said you can't practice your esoteric nonsense. I've simply stated that it's esoteric nonsense that built it's power on exploiting science while denying it's existence at the same time.
But, like every good little dogmatic follower, you hide your ignorance behind a veil of moral superiority.
Tyler Murphy
Why are you still posting non sequiturs? Where was it ever implied that religion was in fundamental opposition against science? That is propaganda and a false dichotomy. Are happy with that kind of shallow thinking, brother? Don't be illogical.
Mason Young
>Where was it ever implied that religion was in fundamental opposition against science?
Probably by it's actions against most of the great scientists of history and anyone that agreed with them. It's not propaganda, and it's very important to the argument of which has been more valuable to human existence as a whole. Science brought us out of poverty and misery. Religion tried to take the credit and was exposed as the mafia is very much is.
>By the way, my Magical Tome says what is right and wrong, and if you disagree with ANY of it, I'll kill you. The Tome says I can.

The LDS Church is the true church of Christ
30 AD - Mormonism 336/1054 AD - Catholics/Orthodox 1517 - Protestantism
Ian Long
>Probably by it's actions against most of the great scientists of history and anyone that agreed with them Name them. Go ahead.
>It's not propaganda, and it's very important to the argument of which has been more valuable to human existence as a whole. That is like saying that painting and sculpture are more important art forms than music to you because you're deaf.
>Science brought us out of poverty and misery. So? Christian missionaries elevated the quality of life of indigenous peoples all throughout the world. What exactly is your point? "Oh, but Christians kill people to", I hear you say. So does science, all the time. What is your point?
>Religion tried to take the credit and was exposed as the mafia is very much is. "Credit"? What are you on about? There was a time where scientific development had to be fostered by the Church because of the organisational nature of the times, because the most highly instructed people belonged to the clergy and thus were uniquely qualified to support all scientific endeavours. What "mafia" are you talking about?
You're awfully presumptuous and ignorant of history.
Logan Williams
We don't need any form of Christianity. Euphoric atheism is the answer.
Lucas Murphy
Are you a teenager? Why are you arguing like one? Are you trolling this thread to make atheists look bad?
Jordan Cooper
Imagine think you represent "the church if Christ" when all you do is rewrite the Bible as you see fit. Catholics are literal heretics and entirely controlled by Jews. Protestants follow the Bible as it was written, not a bunch of man-made rules. Fuck off heretic
Matthew Ross
Here's something you normie plebs are not aware of. The reason for it is cianigger Operation Mockingbird. Ever wonder why they promote "muh pissrael" so much? You got cianigger'd.
Catholics did not rewrite the Bible, brother. Cease the polemics.
Charles Roberts
you sound like someone into Christianity for the ebin memes and muh ethnostate. I implore you to reconsider and come into the fold of the Church. Your salvation is far more important than "lel pope kisses black people feet"
David Collins
I’m guessing you actually believe what you’re saying from Reddit “I fucking love science” tier propaganda, but the bedrock of science (and essentially everything else in western society) was formed in the Catholic Church. The first universities in Europe were founded by the church. The scientific method was established by Roger Bacon, Thomas Aquinas, and others in the church. Copernicus’ doctorate was in Catholic canon law. Lamarck was a devout Catholic who called God “the author of science.” Gregor Mendel was an Augustinian monk who created the theory of genetics. I could go on. Not to mention essentially every major western institution, work of art, early engineering breakthrough was credited to or meant to glorify God. It’s no coincidence we have had such a rapid societal decay into third world savagery as soon as we turned our backs on God within the past 2 generations. How can you be this ignorant?

Why are you responding to this thread when you’re so amazingly ignorant of even the most basic historical facts? You’re not on Reddit anymore, you need to defend your position. Please see my other post and maybe educate yourself?

I'm guessing that wasn't meant for me.

martin luther was right in his 95 theses i have no problem with catholics as people, but the catholic church has been corrupted since they were given political power by Charlemagne

>literal church of christ >literally babylon
Did Jesus need a Pope?
Jacob Baker
your relationship to God is personal if you were alone in the wilderness for the rest of your life, that would not mean you were consigned to hell - the church is everyone who is faithful, not particular people who claim if you're not part of their particular club you'll be damned
Charles Robinson
>implying powermongers don't or won't use science through surveillance capitalism to oppress us even more than "SkyDaddy" ever could
There were always sinners in the Church, this will never change until the End of Times. This doesn't make the Church any less legitimate an institution or the teaching any less sound. And the charges of corruption are way overblown. Luther was not correct in kickstarting the reformation, and maybe when he started getting political backing from highly motivated individuals, he should've developed a modicum of awareness about what he was doing.
Apparently, He did. Otherwise He wouldn't have renamed Simon.
Matthew Jenkins
Why did you change your tripcode? I'm pretty sure I had you filtered.
Xavier Powell
>use science through surveillance capitalism >through surveillance capitalism >surveillance capitalism What the fuck is "surveillance capitalism" supposed to mean and how can you demonstrate that this is a problem with science and not more with capitalism? It's funny how you act like this means anything and constitutes a valid argument. >I HECKIN LIVE BEING A CONTRARIAN FAGGOT
Hudson Brown
>Christian missionaries elevated the quality of life of indigenous peoples all throughout the world
Yes, that's why the Comanche literally drove the Spanish from the Western Plains. Because they were being "uplifted." Also I bet the Mayans were pleased as punch when Spanish AND Portuguese missionaries burned all of their written history because it was "heretical." Truly uplifting behavior.
You can ad hominem all you want. It doesn't do much to aid your argument though.
The teachings literally invalidate themselves if you hold them up to any kind of scrutiny.
Jason Gomez
Kinda like how reason and logic seem antithetical to religious debate.
Michael Rodriguez
>Yes, that's why the Comanche literally drove the Spanish from the Western Plains. Because they were being "uplifted." Also I bet the Mayans were pleased as punch when Spanish AND Portuguese missionaries burned all of their written history because it was "heretical." Truly uplifting behavior. I can also cherrypick all day long. Though it will not lend itself to much substantiality, as your post clearly indicates. You're defending heathens who were practising literal human sacrifice, and this somehow seems like a logically consistent position with your enlightened humanism. Also, no, missionaries weren't "burning written history", they were the ones writing it down and compiling the first primers of their language, as well as mapping the lands and cataloguing the local fauna and flora.
>You can ad hominem all you want. It doesn't do much to aid your argument though. You say this but in the post I'm quoting is you literally throwing the most reddit anti-Christian temper tantrum imaginable, like you're trying to make atheists look bad. What argument are you making exactly that requires any sort of refuting? Be aware of your own fallacies before pointing fingers.
>The teachings literally invalidate themselves if you hold them up to any kind of scrutiny. Do it then. Go ahead. Enlighten us with your knowledge of the Scriptures.
Angel Ward
there is nothing illogical or contrary to reason about believing in God - if you would like for that to be demonstrated to you, go ahead and type out any premise of religious faith that you think constitutes invalid reasoning
Hudson Sanchez
>Also, no, missionaries weren't "burning written history", they were the ones writing it down and compiling the first primers of their language, as well as mapping the lands and cataloguing the local fauna and flora.
Yes and the first thing they did when they "converted" a village was burn all the Quipus. Although this happened more with the Incas than anybody else. If anybody objected it to it, the Spanish/Portuguese weren't very friendly in their response.
>Do it then. Go ahead. Enlighten us with your knowledge of the Scriptures.
If you can make it through fucking Genesis alone and not spot several inconsistencies and outright contradictions, then so be it.

Luis Hill
>Being American and believing in a middle eastern tribal small-g god
James Lewis
it's not one - anti-theists use a definition of evil that theists do not use in their own reasoning to a theist, evil is disobeying God - it is not anything else
>Yes and the first thing they did when they "converted" a village was burn all the Quipus. So you're shifting from the New World to Asia now? And you're still cherrypicking? Does any of this sound like logical, good faith arguing to you?
>Although this happened more with the Incas than anybody else. If anybody objected it to it, the Spanish/Portuguese weren't very friendly in their response. The Portuguese were not interacting significantly with the Incas. And they were still human sacrificing heathens. Stop shedding crocodile tears.
>If you can make it through fucking Genesis alone and not spot several inconsistencies and outright contradictions, then so be it. Are you unable to understand allegory? Do you presume that all Christians are literalists? Is this the best you can do to "denounce" Christianity? Grow up, user.
It's not a paradox. It is formally called "the problem of evil" and it's an epicurean deduction. And like Epicure, it's a long dead problem that atheists pretend to be unresolved to this very day, it has long been resolved by Christianity.
Dylan Foster
>What the fuck is "surveillance capitalism
Lurk moar, faggot.

Christians will always be Jew worshipers
Joseph Hill
if the logical problem of evil is supposed to demonstrate that theists utilize bad reasoning then it should actually do that
Owen Morgan
You have not presented any meaningful arguments in this thread at all. My ignorance of what a quipu is does not preclude the fact that you're maliciously conflating missionaries with secular imperialism in the New World. And this doesn't legitimise in any way your extremely superficial cherrypicking as good faith arguing, which most definitely is not.
You're just shedding crocodile tears for heathens who were practising human sacrifice and you're un(?)ironically convinced that Christians were the bad guys. Start thinking critically and autonomously instead of taking hints from reddit, brother.
Brandon Adams
>catholic shithole immigrants come to successful protestant country >demand it to change >it becomes a shithole shortly thereafter many such cases!
Charles Nguyen
you cant be protestant once you learn the turth we kick jew out of spain and portugal so they cant work with the muslims anymore they go to germany, holland, poland the reformation starts within 10 years
They do see Him as a prophet, in fact, as the greatest of all prophets, but they reject His divinity and all the things He preached. They also promote a novel textual tradition that fundamentally opposes the preceding ones. It's one of the most illogical, unhistorical religions of all times and this is not a "subjective line on sand".
