It's possible it was suicide, but it's also possible Terry was on one of his intense stream-of-thought rants while he was walking down the train tracks. The city of The Dalles had one of those "no train horns going through town" federal exemptions so there would have been no horn to alert Terry it was coming.
There's a little bit of controversy of what actually happened. The first police report said that a witness saw Terry jump onto the tracks just as the train approached. But then later, from the railroad company, they reported the on-train camera saw Terry already on the tracks, and turn around to face the train just a second before impact. The witness was never produced, the railroad refuses to release the video, there is no record of the medical examiner in The Dalles issuing a cause of death, and no paperwork saying the body was returned to his dad in Nevada. There was no funeral for Terry.
The police chief in The Dalles won't go on record with anything other than "We followed all Oregon state laws regarding an investigation into a death of this manner." Complete boilerplate stonewalling. So there will always be an air of mystery surrounding the death/disappearance of the man, the legend, the creator of Temple OS ... Terry A. Davis.
