How do 2 functioning married adults have 0 savings for emergencies while on 2 incomes?
What the hell do these people spend their money on?
Even if both were minimum wage workers, which I doubt they are, they would be taking home about $1500/week as a married couple, or $6000/month, and their rent would be no more than $2000 at the most, infact it’s more like $1500 of less. Now those figures would be them on minimum wage, which again, I doubt they are, so where the fuck is the other $4000-4500+ minimum per month they have after rent is paid going?
They probably eat out every night or order Uber eats everyday.

>What the hell do these people spend their money on? They're raised to believe that things create happiness. As a consequence of social media, their self esteem no longer comes from introspection and accomplishments, it is now hardwired to the accumulation of tangibles.

From one Australian to another, these people are so content with having insane debt and living paycheck to paycheck. Loans are so easy to acquire as well, and most people are happy living like a fucking animal; with no impulse control at all.
I became a home owner in my mid 20's and all my friends are in their late 20's still living with parents an somehow are just scraping by.
We live in a fucking insane system where the young guy with a 50K used benz is considered more successful than the young guy with 50K equity in a house he owns.

>even Australians think they can save money $40 a week for coffee

I take home $300 a week, the rest goes into investments/savings. How these schlubs can't make it on whatever they make disgusts me.
We all lived on a lot less than we make now, why is it so hard for some people to get by with more?

My fiancee is kinda like this. She and I are almost one to one on everything except money. We clash hard on what to buy and what not to buy, she says she doesn't care if we have a house when we get to the point of having kids, that its ok to live in an apartment because "no matter what its not going to be easy, my mom raised us in apartments", she also is completely content with living paycheck to paycheck and doing the absolute minimal amount of work to survive.
While I want to own a house, I'm 23 with 4k in savings, and am willing to work my ass off to get there. I always tell her "Yes but having a stable foundation would make it way fucking easier."
Then she just gets mad and pouts, saying how it doesn't matter. Its madness and an ideology I just can't wrap my brain around. People want to spend money constantly because it brings them temporary happiness. But in the long run it just makes shit worse. I just want to be free of renting apartments and have some yard space to grow food ffs.
