People with severe respiratory infections are often being tested multiple times under the argument that the virus is hard to detect and thus false positives are more likely, resulting in an extremely inflated death rate.

Just like no banking system could withstand every account withdrawing their money at once, no healthcare system can support every citizen getting sick in a short period of time. Japan has the best healthcare in the world for situations that require intensive care and it's only approximately 1% of the populous. If every japanese got corona'd tomorrow and 20% of cases recquired some sort of hospitalization that would mean for every 100 people 1 jap would get treated, 19 japs that could recover with intensive care would not get it and possibly die and 80 japs would have no intensive care fore every other malady that could require it like a car crashes, stroke, etc, and could die meaninglessly.
