Why major happening ? We all know it has gone to shit, countries around the world are printing monopoly money as fast as they can and billions just vanish into thin air. We decided last friday to pump 100 billion into the economy, by monday we knew another 100 billion was needed to have even minor impact. Small businesses are closing, people getting unemployed.

It is clear that this is the hardest hit our country, and the entirety of europe/us is gonna take since WW2 economically. Germans have seen it before because after WW2 we were among the nations hit the hardest from the blowback, we also had great grandparents even knowing how bad it was after WW1 so we have heard all the stories. I wonder how the US will react, they are in absolute denial because they have never seen their economy and country on its knees like what they are about to see.

But see it this way, during these times of need boys will become men... or they will give up and die. I for one am ready to do my duty as a man and build this country up from the ashes. We are at war, anyone who denies that is delusional or weak.

A man who spent his entire life having it easy and is now facing the harsh reality of life. His parents told him how it was after WW2 and he took it as stories from an ancient past. His grandparents told him how it was to live after WW1 here in germany and he once again dismissed it as something that could never happen again.

Yet here we are, at war with an invisible enemy at our gates. Our economy is going up in flames and the damage will be comparable to a WW when it comes to the economy... and he couldnt cope with it. I dont know, do we have any models for a global econmical crisis of this magnitude ? Because at this point with unemployment exploding in EVERY country who can even afford luxury goods anymore ? Will Apple have to sell their new iPhones for 200$ with little to no markup ? But how will they pay their workers then ?

Many questions I dont know the answers to, only thing I see coming is small businesses being destroyed and global megacorporations taking the reigns after this is over. Not a very promising future, but we will see.

Also happening in the US, your unemployment is gonna go through the roof. If you decide to lock down for 2-3 months your economy is broken and it wont be long before 1000$ buys you a loaf of bread. I have heard how it starts from my grandparents. To you it is a fairytale, I have a 1.000.000$ Reichsmark bill in my drawer which my grandfather gave me to remind me of the imaginary value of money. In the end when everything goes to shit it is not even worth the paper it is printed on.

It's not really about "affording" things. It's the wrong way around to talk about affording things.
Money is just a tool where supply is redeemed to cover demand.

When a country goes to war the first thing it does is draft up all its men and send them to go stand around in the countryside for a few years doing nothing productive at all. In fact they usually use up enormous amounts of supplies while standing around, shooting, getting shot, sucking up medicine and tanks and bombs. The economy can run just fine without "affording" things. The idea that the future is paying for the present is ridiculous because you can't eat a loaf of bread that does not yet exist as Bertrand Russel once said.

The REAL issue is how you even produce a loaf of bread when the firm that knew how to produce the ovens went bankrupt, your engineers had to quit their jobs and go dig up potatoes in the forest, and the work force that made the tractors for harvesting the wheat are all dead. Our economy has too many moving parts and when they start failing it's a cascade of failures and the machine stops. And when the machine stops it does not start again.
