You're not doing the best for your engine, then. Synthetic is neither "synthetic" nor jew snake oil. It's a higher grade of oil that goes through a shitload more filtration and processing. It's the reverse-osmosis water of oil. The additives are the same, roughly, but the purity of the base it where its benefits lie. I ONLY use synthetic in my vehicles.

If you religiously change your fluids every 3/3, without any degree of failure, you'll probably still be ok with regular oil. Synthetic, in addition to other reasons, makes up for neglect and severe service much better than regular oil does, and breaks down more slowly in case of over use.
