Lots of people are keeping relatives on ice because either funeral homes are closed or they're not holding funerals because no gatherings. Since local morgues are either full or non-operational, they have to use these trucks. Hospital morgues don't even have that big of a capacity because they don't keep the bodies there long.
Even the smallest of funeral homes carry out about 30 or so bodies a day, so no need to fear.

Tops are supprisingly poorly insulated. I guess it's something with heat rising and the design tries to not heatsoak it or something? Normal dryvan trailers are shitty tarp/canvas with holes in it 95% of the time...reefer is the same 1/4 plastic board for sanitation and then the same. That trailer is old as fuck and the walls are just stained, they should be the color of at least the doors. With that platform and this trailer probably being too old to pass dot/health regs...this is probably used by design. Easier to buy a 5k pos trailer than retrofit a real room with hvac and drainage and hassle in the middle of a 24/7 hospital that I assume from how shit and old nyc is...is a shit old hospital.
